As soon as I entered the house Kirstin stood up and ran to me but she tripped and fell. I beat Scott and Mitch to her side as my brown eyes filled with concern.

Me: Kirstin, are you okay?

Kirstin remained quiet as I sat beside her. She had her hand on my knee as I looked at her with deep concern in my eyes. Then I heard a gasp and I looked up to see Scott staring at Kirstin's right leg. Fear pulsed through me as I saw a cut on her right ankle.

Scott: Kirstin, you're bleeding!

His voice was high with fear and concern. He was just as scared as me, but it seemed that he was even more worried. Kirstin, on the other hand, just looked at her leg and shrugged.

Kirstin: It's just a scratch Scott. I'm fine.

Scott didn't buy it and ran to get something to stop the bleeding. I watched in horror as she collapsed onto Mitch and her eyes closed. Her body was struggling to control the bleeding on its own and I feared that she would get too weak. Scott dropped to his knees beside his motionless friend and shook her gently yet also slightly rough as he tried to get her to wake up.

Scott: Kirstin! Stay with us!

I instantly struggled to get my phone out of my pocket and dial 911. Mitch lowered my hands before I could hit dial.

Mitch: It's okay Kailyn. She just needs to rest.

He gently picked up Kirstin and carried her to her bedroom after nodding to Scott, who pulled me into him as I started to shake with concern and fear. Why does this happen every time? Was there something that I could have done to prevent this?

Me: Scott, is Mitch right?

Scott: Yes. She just struggles with weakness. Like Mitch just said, she'll be fine. Don't worry, Kailyn, she will be fine by morning. But I do believe that it would be a great idea if you spent tomorrow with her.

Me: Okay Scott.

My voice was shaky. I didn't want to lose Kirstin. She meant everything to me and if she died, I wouldn't be able to continue on. January was amazing when she helped make the days we were stuck in my house fun and enjoyable. My eyes slowly closed as sleep overtook my body. Scott gently lifted me into his arms and carried me to my room. Once inside the room, he gently placed me in my bed. His hand remained on my arm as I rolled over and grabbed onto a blanket pulling it close to me.

Scott: Goodnight Kailyn.

He stood up and walked out of my room pausing at the doorway. Scott turned his blue gaze to me as I slept peacefully before sighing and walking out to the living room. As soon as he walked into the living room, Malone stood up. Her eyes were filled with grief as she sighed deeply looking Scott in the eyes.

Malone: Scott, I want to tell you and Mitch what Jessica was talking about yesterday.

Scott remained quiet and left to get Mitch. The two boys returned to the living room to find Malone pacing. She saw them and motioned for them to sit down. They sat beside each other and each of them had a look of concern. Malone took a deep breath.

Malone: We were up in Northern Kentucky and she wanted to go to Kings Island together. We were on our way there and almost to a bridge that crosses the Ohio River when a car rammed into the side of Kailyn's car, flipping it over the concrete barrier. There were bushes and trees, which made it painfully difficult to get her out. I was driving behind her and when I saw the car ram into her, I stopped immediately and called 911. I had feared the absolute worst. I was sure that she was dead. The emergency responders struggled to get her out because of all the vegetation. They had to get her out through the windshield. When they pulled her out, her arm was terribly misshapen and there were tons of glass shards in her arms and legs. It took two weeks just to get the glass out of her. She had to have one to help her arm heal properly as well as another one to help her ankle heal properly. She had to have another one just to remove the glass shards from her shoulder. Then another one to remove an infection in her right side, which is the main thing that she still has problems with. I recognized the car that rammed into Kailyn's car. So to sum this all up. Jessica had tried and almost succeeded to kill Kailyn.

She closed her eyes as she stood up and went to my room. Scott and Mitch looked at each other with fear, concern, and anger. They remained quiet but shared the same thought: Jessica must pay for what she has done to me.
