This ship is one of my favourites!
A total OTP!
My reasons are how I think the two characters are noticeably very close and care a lot about each other.
I remember the scene when Yami/Atem loses a duel for the first time and loses Yugi.
I remember when I saw Yami/Atem start crying and yelling when he realized Yugi wasn't with him anymore.
I was so shocked and amazed!
I couldn't believe it!
I also remember watching the Japanese version and watching Yami/Atem call Yugi "the most important, precious person in his life."
I was like, "YOU LOVE YUGI!"
There was also the reaction of Yugi trying to stop Yami/Atem from using the seal of orichalcos.
Yugi was begging Yami/Atem to not use but failed.
Then, he saved Yami/Atem by sacrificing himself for Yami/Atem.
Very sad...😢
There was also the duel when Yugi is tied up and Yami/Atem constantly worries about Yugi as he loses Life Points in the duel.
Then, there is the Dark Side of Dimensions movie.
It's sad to see Yugi miss Yami/Atem and even his friends acknowledge that Yugi truly misses Yami/Atem, but at the same time, he doesn't want to force Yami/Atem to come back just because he wishes for it.
It's hard for him to not see Yami/Atem, but he continues to live without needing Yami/Atem.
This is different from Seto Kaiba who tries to go where Yami/Atem is and tries to force Yami/Atem to appear by making the Millennium Puzzle again.
What makes this even more important is how Seto Kaiba sacrifices himself and Yami/Atem doesn't appear at all.
But when Yugi is about to die, who shows up? But Yami/Atem! Yami/Atem appears and basically saves Yugi from dying and disappearing.
I always found Puzzleshipping to be my most wholesome, comfort ship because it's how I think of true love.
A strong friendship
A close bond
An unbearable distance that the two can't stand easily.
Seems like true love to me!
Overall, there is so many moments that really tell me Yami/Atem love Yugi so much! Also, that Yugi reciprocates!
Their bond has taken a few years to manifest in the beginning but their bond grew to a point where they were really good friends.
Then, there were given a challenge where they couldn't be with each other for the rest of their journey.
Then, finally, they had a final battle to test the both of them.
Yugi could finally be independent from Yami/Atem, but it also meant he was going to lose his greatest friend, the most important to him.
