Are You Kidding Me?

        Today is the day of the sports festival, we are in the locker room getting ready. Uraraka is spreading her excessive positivity, as usual. I will admit though, it's sort of nice, having someone who is overwhelmingly happy. Then the time comes for the athlete's oath, which is to be given by Bakugo of all people. I watch as he makes his way up the stairs, the murmuring stops. "Make no mistake about it, I'm going to take first place." He says into the mic, I roll my eyes. "Are you fucking kidding me?"  I think to myself, the entire crowd is in an uproar. "You'll all make great stepping stones, I'd say." Bakugo concludes, signing 'fuck you'. I can see what he's really doing though, he's pushing himself. He's declaring to himself that he will win. He wasn't challenging us, he was challenging himself. "Now, without delay, let's get this first event started." Midnight announces.

        I have been training, pushing myself to the limit. I am ready for whatever they throw my way. Suddenly the words 'Obstacle Course Race' Flash on the screen, I sigh. Honestly this is kind of a relief. The way Dad had been talking made me think this was gonna be much worse than it actually is. As the course is explained one thing stands out. 'So long as you don't stray from the course, anything is fair game.' Now I see, this isn't just going to be a race, it's going to be a battlefield. 

        As soon as the race begins, the narrow entry that is the starting gates, erupts into chaos. Suddenly I feel a cold chill. 'Ice'  I look ahead, and sure enough the ice is headed my way. I laugh and lift myself into the air. "Not this time Todoroki. " I mutter to no one in particular. I float to Todoroki before letting myself fall. "I expected this from our class, but more made it past than I thought." He blankly stated, I smile. "Well people don't like being turned into human popsicles. It's only natural for them to try and avoid it." I say trying to keep pace with him. Suddenly a thud comes from behind, I turn to see robots. People begin complaining about these being from the entrance exam. "So they used these for their tests, huh?" I ask aloud, Todoroki mutters something that I can't quite make out. He then freezes the robots and makes a break for it, I run behind him. "Bad idea! I froze them in pretty unstable positions!" He says, I hear cracking, I hold them up just long enough for me to squeeze out. "So they'd fall." He says. As I slide out, I release my hold on the robots and they all come crumbling down.

        I try to keep up with Todoroki, but after carrying so much I find myself falling behind. I make it to the next obstacle, 'The fall'. I sigh, Todoroki has already begun crawling his way across. I begin my way across I start out fine on the tightropes, but I end up having to use my quirk as a safety net. Todoroki is moving on when I reach the other side, the others are already making their way across. 

        I run to the next, and final, obstacle. It's a literal minefield, Todoroki is cautiously making his way through it. I follow close behind, but suddenly Bakugo blasts past both of us. Bakugo and Todoroki begin to fight for the lead. Suddenly a huge explosion is heard from behind, Midoriya is riding a huge blast from those mines. We watch as he soars over us, suddenly Bakugo propels himself forward. I make the decision to hitch a ride. "LET GO OF MY LEG YOU FUCKING PSYCHO!" Bakugo yells trying to shake me off. "No can do, boom boom boy!" I reply with a smile, he grits his teeth. Once we land I smile. I run to the gates, Bakugo only beating me by a hair. Midoriya gets first place, Todoroki comes in second, Bakugo in third, and myself in fourth.

        The next event is the Calvary battle, and I need to find myself a group. Ojiro waves me over to see about joining his group. A purple haired boy and a blue haired boy are on the team. I use my quirk to look into the purple haired boy's mind. "If I can just get them to respond..."  He thinks, I narrow my eyes. I tap on Ojiro's shoulder, "Ojiro, can you introduce me? That guy... he makes me nervous." I say, Ojiro gives me a questioning look before agreeing. "Thanks."

        "Alright, I'm Shinso, what are your names?" The purple haired boy asks. "I'm Ojiro and this is Hikage." Ojiro says, the blue haired boy introduces himself as Shoda. "I'll take the rider position, any objections?" Shinso says looking at me, I shake my head no. He lets out a sigh, realizing that I'm not going to talk to him. "Fine then, pick me up." We all comply, although, the others seem a bit more... distant. Collectively we have 485 points, setting us in fifth place. Once the battle starts he instructs us to another group, he yells something at them, and then they give him their headband. "So that's your quirk?"  I relay to him through my telepathy. "It's a very useful one too. I think it's really cool!"  I tell him, it only takes him a moment to realize who he's talking to. "Thanks." He murmurs, I smile, he kind of reminds me of dad. 

        The battlefield is extremely chaotic, nearly everyone is after Midoriya. We lost all our points pretty quickly. Suddenly a current runs through the battlefield, Kaminari. Last second Shinso manages to get another headband and I float one off another team, we end up in third place.  "Thanks for your help." Shinso says, I smile. "Anytime."  I say, he barely turns to look at me. Ojiro places a hand on my shoulder. "I don't- I can't remember any of that." He says, he wants to know why he can't remember, I decide to give him a hint. "I do, I guess not saying much was a good thing." 

        It's time for a lunch break before our next challenge. I go to the dining hall, looking for Midoriya, but he never comes. I end up sitting with Uraraka and Iida. We are all quite excited for the head-to-head battles that await us. Suddenly Mineta comes over to inform Uraraka and myself that we have to dress up as cheerleaders. "Mr. Aizawa told us about it himself." Kaminari insisted, so Yaoyorozu created us all cheer uniforms and we went out wearing them. Turns out it was all a prank, and we didn't have to wear them. I hate the outfits, I start my way towards Mineta and Kaminari, but Uraraka stops me. 

        Suddenly it's time for match ups, but before we start Ojiro raises his hand. "I'd like to drop out." He says, I suddenly feel a bit guilty for not telling him why I was so nervous to talk to Shinso. He gets a lot of questions and explains why he wants to drop out. "I can't remember anything, and it's probably his quirk that did that." He goes on to explain that it would hurt his pride if he went on. He then turns to us, "And why the heck are you girls dressed like that?" Before anyone can answer Shoda withdraws too. Everyone seems to look at me. "I remember the battle, I would like to stay in." I whisper, feeling bad for the two boys. Midnight approves their withdrawals and two members from team Tetsutetsu replace the boys. The matchups are made, I'm up against Ashido. I look, Midoriya is against Shinso. I've gotta tell him not to talk to Shinso.

         As I make my way to him, Ojiro is walking away. "Midoriya! Congrats on making it this far." I say, he smiles at me with his warm smile. "Thanks, you're doing pretty well too!" He replies, I smile. "Look, there's something you need to know. The boys on my team talked to Shinso and can't remember a thing. I never said a word to him, I still have my memories from the battle. No matter what he says, don't respond." 

        "I thought you weren't supposed to help the competition?" Midoriya jokingly asks, I smirk. "If I help you then just maybe we can get matched up later. I want to see this new quirk of yours firsthand." I reply in the same manner. Before I know it, it's time to start. "Good luck, try not to break a leg." I say, he thanks me and runs off. I go to watch. 

        Midoriya and Shinso both step out, Shinso begins talking to Midoriya. After a moment Midoriya rushes at him and responds. "Are you kidding me?"  I think to myself, and after I warned him. Ojiro, has the same expression as me, I can only assume that he also warned Midoriya. Midoriya is instructed to walk out of the ring, and he begins to do so. Suddenly Midoriya snaps out of it. And by that I mean he manages to snap his fingers, regaining control. He pushes Shinso to the edge of the ring before Shinso tries to put up a fight. Midoriya flips him onto his back, just barely putting him out of the ring.
