Her arm out the window, catching the cool wind as the summer day turned into night. The indigo sky held so many tiny lights, those of which she had an affinity for staring at whenever she could. She always wondered if they could stare back, and watch her in return but tonight, she'd be the only star that was taking inventory of the sights around her. And as she watched the narrow road that led them past the horizon, her lover watched her too.
Daniel was more like a comet; ice cold, but he warmed up when he was around his star, and though he was rigid with everyone else, he felt free around her. So naturally, he pressed the button above his head, and listened on as the sunroof of his 2020 Jeep Wrangler opened up and allowed a better view of the stars from their seats. Like clockwork, Angel gasped lowly, tilting her head upwards to admire the sky some more.
"They're so beautiful." She gushed, taking her phone out of her small purse and pointing the lens upward as she snapped a pic for Instagram. Anyone who knew Angel knew that she adored stargazing, something she always indulged in as a little girl. The way the stars could seem so bright -but the sky still dark- fascinated her, and made her want to study the large inhabitants of the galaxy that looked as small to humans as we were to them. Angel allowed a soft breath to leave her lips in the form of a sigh, lowering her gaze as she returned to just looking out the window. But, she wasn't as alone as she felt sometimes, and soon, Daniel placed his hand on her thigh, rubbing his thumb along her smooth skin. And just as he was her knight in shining armor, Angel leaned towards her lover and hugged his arm against her chest, smelling his expensive Tom Ford cologne.
Daniel sank into his seat even more, comfort taking over his being as Angel held on to him. She didn't even have to be touching his skin to make it feel like electricity was flowing through his veins, and as all of that energy built up, making his heart beat triple time, he kept his composure. Somehow, even with that shock of energy pulsing through him, Angel still was his solace away from the chaos of his life.
As they pulled up to the venue of their date night, the ambiance immediately added to the mood, small candles in round glass bowls lit the round, bar height tables against the backdrop of the night. Umbrellas adorned these modern table sets, which led to the front entrance of the establishment, white cushions accompanying the industrial seats they rested upon.
The smitten man swiftly left the driver's seat, almost darting over to Angel's door, and as she prepared herself to exit the car, Daniel readied his hand for her to take.
