She loved staying after, finishing up some homework or blocking out her agenda for the next day. Angel was excited that she was able to be a student again, instead of just the lifelong learner that everyone was. She only hoped that her love for the classroom wouldn't meet a sour end with her course load.
As she threw the strap to her tote bag over her shoulder, she felt a sharp sting and winced. If not anything else, my back would lead me to hate school days. She thought, a bit concerned. With a roll of her eyes, she brought her hand to her shoulder and sighed longingly. If only I had someone to give me a massage.
Her mind wandered to her fit ex-lover, who wouldn't be able to resist laying his hands on her after her long day of classes. And how he would probably have a full spread of food waiting for her in his luxury home. But she wasn't ready to see nor hear from him just yet, so a nice bath and a good night's rest would have to do the trick.
Before she left campus, Angel made sure to stop by the bookstore to pick up her last book for one of her classes, so she would be prepared for the rest of the week. After she picked the right book, she roamed through the aisles of school apparel, on her way to the cashier. The bright young woman loved the idea of becoming a die-hard for her college and displaying some school pride so of course, she picked up a sweatshirt and brought it to the checkout counter.
"Hi, I'm Grace, I hope you found everything okay." The girl said, scanning the barcode on her book before unfolding the oversized sweatshirt and looking for the tag.
"I did, thanks." Angel replied, quickly grabbing a candy bar, and placing it in front of Grace before fishing in her wallet for her card.
The curious girl giggled, grabbing the chocolate, and ringing it up just as quickly as it was placed before her. Just as Angel readied her card, the cashier read her total from her screen and pressed a button that allowed for Angel's payment.
"All set." She affirmed, bagging the goods, and taking her receipt from the small machine to hand it to her.
"Thank you." Angel reached for the bag, and Grace released it, a kind smile on her face still.
"Angel, is it?" She asked, quickly glancing at the store copy of the receipt.
"Yes."
"You new? I haven't seen you around here before." Grace was intrigued by the way the girl in front of her carried herself and saw her as someone she could become friends with.
"Yeah, just enrolled last week," Angel informed, politely. With Danny on her bad side and Talia sort of in hiding, she sadly had no one to hang out with on her off days. In the beginning, it was okay but, as a week passed she realized she'd have to step up her social interaction.
"Oh, okay! I'm a first year too. Some friends and I are going out to eat together. You should come along!" The fairer-skinned girl almost jumped out of her skin with enthusiasm, causing Angel to laugh to herself, as she took in her offer.
"Sure, I could use a night out of my apartment." She rolled her eyes softly, a small smile finding its way to her face.
"Bet! Let me get your number so we can connect." Grace handed her phone to Angel to put her number in, and when she did, Angel handed it back.
