Silence filled the dim room, except for the smallest sound of breath entering and leaving the bodies that inhibited the space. Euphoric bliss penetrated Angel's very being, her limbs light in volume and her heart beating steadily as it lay against Daniel's. She sighed softly, as she continued to trace the colorful lines of the ink that resided within his skin, resting her hand along the bigger tattoos.
His hold stayed consistent, and firm, giving the young woman the haven she'd always wanted. Few made her feel safe in this world, Cassius being one of them. But there was something about the way Daniel kept her close, as if someone was reaching for her, that made her realize that he wanted to guard her from things neither of them could see. Daniel breathed deeply, adjusting his position in his halfway slumbering state, and opened his eyes to see Angel's peering back at him.
"What you thinkin' bout over there?" As he regained feeling in his once sleep-paralyzed limbs, he pulled his lover closer into his sculpted frame, rubbing circles in her back with his thumb.
"You." She answers shortly, allowing her manicured nail to trail down his bicep.
"Oh yeah?" Daniel licks his lips briefly, glancing at Angel's lips as he did so, causing her cheeks to heat up in nervousness, her pupils dilating at the fixation she had with him.
"What about me?" Now, with his light, tea-colored eyes focused on the orbs in front of him, his heart begins to work double time, his mind racing about just how long he'd waited for Angel. A year. A long time, to get to know someone with no strings attached, but to attach yourself to them anyways. It was like he allowed Angel to creep into his conscience and make a space for herself, and she had finally moved the rest of her things into the home that was his heart.
"Just you, how you are, who you are. That's it." Angel allowed a smile to form on her lips, her dimples appearing on her mocha toned cheeks. She rested her hand on the side of Daniel's face, her eyes searching his, for any hint of doubt.
"I promise I'll always be good to you, and good for you. And if I start to be bad for you-" Daniel spoke softly, the cadence of his voice genuine, as Angel leaned forward, and cut off his words.
"Not possible." Only a moment of eye contact passed before she pressed her lips against his, gently, feeling him kiss her back almost instantly. Their night faded away swiftly, as they drifted back off to sleep, on the other's mind.
"Angel...Angellll." As her eyes opened slowly, Angel was met with the smell of breakfast foods, and pastry, wafting through the doorway of Angel's room. She turned over to her other side, and raised her arms, in a much-needed stretch.
"Good morning, baby." Daniel cooed as he stood at the edge of her bed, his voice serenading Angel into waking up fully. Her lips curled up slightly, the sleep sticking to her a little more than usual, courtesy of the warm bed she was in, and the man that formerly inhabited it with her.
"Good morning."
"When you ready, you can bring yo fine ass downstairs for breakfast." With another kiss to her lips, Daniel left Angel in her room to get herself together. Looking at her phone, she saw that it was earlier than she thought, 8:53 reading across her bright iPhone screen like a neon sign. She swung her legs over the side of her bed, ready to go into the bathroom to handle her morning hygiene and take a quick shower.
