CHAPTER THREE: I'M PREGNANT

October 1977

James Potter grew up in a loving household. Quite the opposite to one of his best friends. His parents Fleamont and Euphemia Potter struggled trying for a baby and they had almost given up when they were blessed with James.

However James Potter was not ready to be a father. Hell, he could hardly look after himself. How is he meant to look after a baby? James also had his life planned out. He was going to graduate from Hogwarts, marry Lily if she ever agrees to go on a date with him and become an auror. The girl in front of him was not part of the picture.

"Your what?" James uttered in shock.

"I'm pregnant James and...and...it's yours" Florence stuttered weakly. She studied James' face looking for any sign of emotion. Unfortunately the look on his face was not what she wanted.

James started walking backwards until he banged into someone and after that he turned around and bolted. Florence watched as he got lost in the crowd. The heavy feeling in her chest reached her throat. She tried to gulp it down.

Florence could not believe it. James had run away from her. She had been building the confidence to tell him for a week. Florence hadn't even realized she was walking until she found Amara in the stands. She made eye contact with her best friend.

As soon as Amara saw Florence she knew something was wrong. She patted the seat beside her letting Florence know she saved the seat for her.

"Flo, what's wrong?" she asked, grabbing her hand.

"He ran away"

"Who ran away?"

"James... I told him and he ran away" Florence breathed trying to hold a sob in.

"Oh my Flo. I'm so sorry" Amara said as she put an arm around her best friend discreetly trying to comfort her.

The two sat there not moving or talking. The arena around them was filled with students buzzing about the match that was about to start.

Florence could not believe her luck. She knew no one would take it easy finding out that they had knocked someone up but she didn't expect James to run away.

Florence was distracted by her thoughts when she noticed the Ravenclaw team fly out onto the pitch. She watched Henry fly on his broomstick waving at the Ravenclaws supporting him plus his two Slytherin friends.

Florence felt her stomach drop. She knew the Gryffindor team would be coming out any minute now.

Why did she tell James right before the first big game of the year? He was the team captain for god's sake.

Her heart dropped as she searched all the Gryffindor players' faces as they appeared on the field. James Potter was not there.

Sirius, Remus and Peter watched their team fly out onto the field. The trio looked at each when they noticed their friend was not there.

It was very out of character for James to not be there. Quidditch was his life and besides he was just talking to Sirius and he was in his uniform ready to go.

"I'll go look for him" Sirius announced as he got up and started descending from the stands.

Sirius thought about where he could be. He had been talking to the Slytherin girl who's name he could not even remember.

Siruis walked into the changing rooms looking for James. He heard a soft sobbing coming from one of the toilet stalls. He crept over and knocked on the door.

"Prongs. Is that you" he asked softly

"No," James replied, wiping the tears away from his eyes trying to erase all evidence of him crying away.

"Prongs mate. Let me in" Sirius demanded as he heard the sadness in his best friend's voice.

"I'm fine Pads. Please just watch the game" James pleaded, hoping to be left alone.

"James... something must be very wrong for you to willingly miss out on playing your first ever game of Quidditch as captain" Siruis stated

James unlocked the stall door. Kicking it open with his foot.

"Pads, I knocked up a Slytherin '' James whispered his voice barely audible.

Sirius' eyes widened. "That girl who wanted to talk to you before she..." Sirius stuttered in absolute shock.

James nodded, not being able to trust his own voice.

"This isn't some sort of prank is it" Siruis asked, looking around waiting for Remus and Peter to appear telling him it was all a joke.

James shook his head. He knew if he talked he would lose it.

"Merlin Prongs, you knocked up a bloody Slytherin" Sirius uttered, not believing what he was hearing.

"What am I gonna do, Pads, I can't be a father. Hell, I didn't even say anything to Florence... I just ran away " James whispered, worried evident in his voice.

"James Potter, you are one of my best friends. I want what is best for you okay but you better go tell that girl that you are going to be there for her no matter what" Siruis said, almost scolding his friend. He knew James was better than running away from his problems.

"I know... I know... I'm just in shock" James said.

"That is okay Prongs but first you need to get on that field and win this game then you need to go find your baby mama and talk to her and apologise " Sirius replied giving James a brotherly hug.
