The next morning, Samael woke up early before getting ready for the day and going out for a run around the castle grounds. Once he returned, he caught Draco fixing up his hair. "There you are!" Draco said exasperatedly. "I woke up and you were gone without so much of a note."

"Were you worried about me, Vanilla?" Samael asked in a mean tone. "I go out for a run every morning." He explained while he changed out of his athletic wear and into his robes.

Draco rolled his eyes as the both of them started walking to The Great Hall.

They ate peacefully with Blaise and Pansy, having a cheery conversation all through breakfast about what they would do if they had all the power in the world. Soon, it was time for their first class. Potions with the Hufflepuffs.

All they had to do today was make a cure for boils. With a partner from the other house. Samael listened for his name as Snape listed off the partners, oblivious to Draco's sad look in his direction. Of course Draco wanted to be partners with his best friend, but when had things ever gone perfectly perfect in life?

"Malfoy, Abbott. Parkinson, Macmillan. Zabini, Florence. and Grimm, Hacket." Snape finished listing off before he turned to the blackboard and wrote down a recipe. Everyone moved to their partners quickly. Samael recognized the name Hacket immediately. Her first name was Mia, if he remembered correctly.

"Over here!" Hacket soon waved him over. He walked over and sat down in the vacant stool beside her. "Hello. I'm Samael Grimm." Samael introduced himself, sticking out his hand. Hacket shook his hand firmly. "Mia Hacket." She replied with a smile.

They began working together, and despite not knowing what any of the ingredients were, Mia was quite good at cutting and crushing and preparing them. Samael suspected that all her prior knowledge had come from cooking. "Hacket, Can you get us some dried nettles?" Samael asked her. "They're dry looking plants, green stems with green prickly leaves." She nodded before returning quickly with the vial containing dried nettles.

"You can call me Mia." Hacket told him, handing Samael the vial before he emptied the contents and crushed them in his hands, sprinkling them into the potion he was stirring. "Alright. Call me Samael." Mia smiled at him.

Once they completed the potion, they were awarded five points to each of their houses as theirs had been one of the only ones that had actually turned out. Some people had their cauldrons melted. they must have had their heat too high as they were adding the snake fang dust.

Snake fangs, which were slightly venomous, could turn the potion acidic if the heat was too high when they mixed with the Flobberworm mucus. Mia grinned at Samael proudly as Snape awarded them the house points, as well as Malfoy and Abbott, and Greengrass and Fawley.

"You're homework is to write about seven different potion ingredients, what affects they have, how they react to seven other ingredients and what potions they are used for in detail. Full sentences aren't particularly needed. This is due next Wednesday." Snape informed the class.

Samael saw Mia's smile fall off her face and onto the floor as she heard this. He knew that this would mean long visits to the library and lots of researching for Mia. "I can help you, if you want." Samael whispered, almost without thinking. "With the homework."

"Really!? yes please!" Mia jumped excitedly, catching a few looks from those around them. "Hacket! Ten points from Hufflepuff!" Snape said before he excused everyone from the class. "Of course. After school today in the library?" Samael asked, getting out of his seat and packing up. "That works for me. Thank you!" Mia said, smiling at him widely. He gave her his own smile back before they walked their separate ways to their different classes.

And so, right after dinner Samael walked to the library. Mia was already there, fidgeting in her seat somewhere in a quiet corner. "Hey, Mia." Samael greeted her, walking up just behind her. She turned to look at him quickly. "Hi! Thanks for helping me again." She thanked him.

"It's not a problem at all, really." Samael said as a few different potion books floated towards them and Samael began to show Mia a few of the different ingredients.

There were so many different ingredients, it was impossible to know them all and their properties and reactions, but they did manage to get a few in. By the end of their studying session, they both had half of the potions homework done. Samael smiled at Mia fondly. She had listen to him talk like there was no one else to listen to.

Samael thought to himself that he and Mia would become great friends eventually. They set up a date for their next study session before they left to their common rooms, bidding each other goodnight.
