𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝒃𝒐𝒙𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, Tony obviously found a way to make a life lesson about hard work and perseverance to Charlie. He has always taken his role as a father very seriously in his own, unique way, and after he found out her project had failed, he wanted to cheer his daughter up. Even if the main reason she went boxing that day was to clear her head and forget about it in the first place.

"Life is all about failure and what really matters is how you bounce back," Tony said as he drank another sip from his water bottle.

Charlie turned around and looked at her dad, "Yeah, I know but-"

"Rule number one: never take your eyes of your oppon-" Happy went to punch her but she faced him at last second, grabbed his hand and flipped him over, legs over his head. She held the position until he tapped her leg, begging for air.

"That's my daughter," Tony exclaimed from outside the ring.

"I just slipped," Happy said, still on the ground. Charlie extended her hand for him to take, then he stood on his feet.

"You did?"

"Yeah," Happy answered out of breath, like he was a little in pain.

"Looks like a TKO to me," Tony went on.

"The student surpassed the master," Charlie grinned while wiping her sweaty forehead with the back of her ungloved hand.

"You did a long time ago sweetie. You need a new opponent now," her father said as he pointed his finger at James, who was sitting on a chair away from the ring. "Come on, Sergeant. Front and centre. Come into the church."

"No. You're seriously not gonna ask..."

"I'm his boss, so technically he doesn't have a choice."

James seemed to evaluate the situation, his cold eyes switching from Tony and his daughter back and forth. He stood after a moment, then began to take his jacket off and carefully roll up the sleeves of his white shirt on his forearms. Charlie's throat suddenly went dry.

"I'm sorry. He's very eccentric," her voice surprisingly came into a whisper when James went standing before her, his assessing gaze making her blood running cold.

Tony rang the bell, signaling the start of the fight.

She was the first to strike but he dodged the blow. They exchanged a couple more that Charlie easily parried. She then kicked him with her left leg in the stomach and he went crashing into the corner of the ring. "You hold back your punches, Sergeant. You know that I'm not made of sugar, right?" she said with a devilish grin to challenge him.

Because that was way too easy.

Once he moved back to the center of the ring, she tried to destabilize him and his footing but he beat her at it. Before she hit the ground, James caught her. She might have forgot how to breathe as they stayed a moment like that, staring at each other, drowning in each other's gaze, until Tony clapped his hands and snapped them back into reality. Charlie pulled herself from his grip when she stood up, her heart ready to come out of her chest.
