chapter 3- Just Friends

Tris's POV

"Oh, I don't see any problems though. If u didn't want to be with me, you can just tell me." Toby said, I could see the anger, sadness, and desperation in his eyes as he said that.

"No, of course I love you, its just that ur dating that slu.." I start but stop as I realize that I was about to call his girlfriend a slut

"I'm dating a what?" curiosity filled his eyes but also sadness, as if he knew what I was going to say.

"I was going to say that your dating that...... slut Lauren so u already have a girlfriend and I don't want to ruin your relationship." I was trying to say the ending quietly but apparently he heard it all.

"So? I can just break up with her, the only reason why I stayed with her was for pleasuring reas......" he stopped as soon as he realized what he said. His eyes widened.

"No thats not what I meant its just that she's not really my girlfriend, she is just too clingy."

anger flew right through my head and everything just fell out.

"What!? I thought u were better than that Toby, but apparently you like using girls for your advantage, and you would just "break up" with Lauren just to be with me? You are so stupid and selfish, you do know that girls even like lauren has feelings, its not like she's an alien or anything. You are just like every jock, using girls for your own needs. Well guess what FOUR, what happens after, you won't get anything good in life. And what about me, was I going to become your booty call at night for your "needs", you are sick, were you going to throw me in the junk after you find a more gorgeous girl, so you can be with her? Well tough luck because no on will love you, I thought you were good but you are nothing but a spoiled, selfish, manwhore!" I yell this and by the end I am panting and by the looks of it, he is taken back of how i yelled at him. But then he seems hurt.

"I'm sorry, can we just be friends then? at least?" he tries to ask but by the end he has tears in his eyes which breaks my heart.

"Okay I'll give it a try, after all, I did kind of just yell at you.So lets just stay friends."

Although I can see sadness in his eyes he is trying to hide it with happiness.

"Well lets get to class"

"ok" Toby responds quietly, I feel bad but I have to stay strong.

So we head off to science

--------time lapse to lunch---------------------------------

When I get to the lunch table with Cristina, my smile immediately changes to a frown, right there in front of me is Toby, or should I say Four, making out with Lauren. Christina sees my change of expression and gives a questioning look but then realizes what I'm looking at.

"I'm sry, do you want me to stop them?" she asks

"No its fine lets just go sit and eat, just ignore them, if they don't see us there then who cares." I try my best to convince her, and by the looks I have't but she still gives in.

" Alright, but if they start feeling up each other, I will yell at them."

"ok" I respond

So we just walk to our table, soon the whole gang is here and they give us a questioning look at us and four and Lauren making out. 'Just leave them' I mouth. I guess they understood it because they just nod and sit down.

"Did you guys see that Ferrari! It's soo beautiful, I could marry it!" Screams Uriah which surprisingly makes Four and Lauren stop making out an give us a questioning look.

But we just ignore them

"Well its your lucky day my friend because that is my car." I say, Uriah starts screaming,

"Can you please give me a ride?"

"Ok fine, since I feel generous I'll drive, Uriah, Peter, Zeke, Christina, Shauna, Lynn, and Marlene to my house to hang out." I say, which makes all of them smile and cheer.

"Hey! What about us!" Lauren exclaims

"Oh, I didn't know you would want to come, I thought that you would much have preferred sucking faces with Mr.Four over here." I try my best not to laugh but end up failing, soon the gang starts cracking up besides Four and Lauren.

Aw I love my friends, but as I laughed, I saw in the corner of my eyes, Four looking as furious and sad as ever.

Soon he gets up and runs out the lunch doors.

"Great job look what you guys did" Lauren says about to get up but I stop her.

"I'll talk to him.

As I run out, I see him at his locker sitting on the floor with his head in between his knees.

"Hey whats wrong?" I ask

"you know whats wrong so why are you asking? Just leave." he responds coldly.

"You know what I try to be nice and help you but you never want it, and I was thinking about dating you based on how we were friends, but I don't think we will ever date so I'm sorry, and I'll leave you alone." As I finish I get up but Four grabs my hand.

"Tris, I'm sry I know I'm being a jerk but can you please just give me one chance to prov myself."

"Its already to late you already had it" with that I rip my hand away and run towards the cafeteria.

"TRIS! TRIS!" Four yells but I just keep running until

"GODDAMN IT TRIS, I LOVE YOU!" At those words I froze and turned towards him.

"What did you just say?"

"I LOVE YOU OKAY TRIS, I'VE LOVED YOU SINCE I MET YOU!!"
