"Ugh!" A young female bat huffed when her buddy smacked the sand. "You persistent, annoying—"
"Thought you could pull a trick while I was away batgirl?" Knuckles growled. "I'm tired of you and your games! How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from my island!"
"Oh please!" The bat brought herself to stand up. "I'll stop coming when I finally have my hands on that jewel!"
"Are you delusional? Go to Station Square or some other city and buy your own jewels! Don't come flying back here causing a ruckus when you know you'll never be able to get your hands on the master emerald!"
"No thanks! I'll take this one!" The bat winked at Knuckles and reached for the emerald.
"OH NO, YOU DON'T!" Knuckles snarled and knocked her away! "CLAWS OFF!"
"Ow! You ruined my makeup! I'm gonna make you pay!"
"We'll come and get your money sweetheart because this bank is full of cash!" Knuckles retorted. "Enough to buy you a Knuckle-sandwich!"
Before both of them could react, a large mechanic claw grabbed onto the Master emerald and yoinked it off the ground.
"Hey! Thief! What do you think you're doing with MY emerald!?" The bat growled.
"You're calling him a thief?" Knuckles huffed. "What do you mean YOUR emerald?"
"I'll take this as my time to leave." Eggman mumbled and began to fly away, but Knuckles hopped in the air.
"NOT ON MY WATCH EGGMAN!" He punched the emerald and it shattered into a bunch of pieces, and Rouge hollered as if she took an arrow to her heart.
"MY EMERALD!? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?"
"I did that so he wouldn't steal it!" Knuckles rolled his eyes. Eggman flew away, grumbling to himself.

It had been a few days since Amy saw the Doctor. She returned to the lair near Station Square, but when she got back, he was nowhere to be found. She later found out that he went off on his own for whatever scheme he had planned. He left a note on the fridge to remind her of her job to tidy up and clean, and she did just that.
It was a lot of chores, but eventually, she finished. However, she over-extended herself while cleaning. She was exhausted, so she decided to take a little nap before Doctor Eggman arrived.
She slumped her body over the couch and closed her eyes. Her muscles relaxed as she drifted off into a deep sleep. It was sometime later that the sound of the front door whirring made her stir. She opened her eyes and rubbed them, then sat up to look at the entrance.
In the light, she saw a blur of Eggman. She pushed herself off the couch and she rubbed her eyes some more. "Doctor? Is that you?"
"Ah, Good morning, Rose!" Eggman sauntered in with a pep in his step.
"M-morning?" Amy blinked, realizing slowly that she slept the whole night. Soon after Dr. Eggman walked in, Amy spotted a familiar yet faint-looking silhouette with quills come forward.
"Doctor! Watch out! It's Sonic!" Amy gasped and summoned her hammer. She ran up to the silhouette and swung her hammer down, only for it to be grabbed by the handle, canceling her attack. Then she was kicked back with full force, and her body skidded across the floor.
She rolled over and groaned, and in walked a black hedgehog with red stripes. "S-Sonic?" She blinked.
The black hedgehog discarded her hammer aside and walked over to Dr. Eggman. He crossed his arms and rolled his eyes at Amy.
