Ezra didn't know with what to do with the current situation. His mate, Lucinde was acting like a different person. Instead of looking at him with eyes filled with contempt, she had this look on her face as if she saw an angel. However, she started to panic all of a sudden. She even went as far as to jump out of the window. The expression on her face was akin to someone who was plunged into an unfamiliar territory.

As he tried to calm her down while patting her back, she began breaking down in tears. She started gripping his shirt tightly as she did so. With her being in close proximity to him, he could still smell the scent that came about from his mate's sexual intercourse with his alpha. The mixed feelings of anger and despair grew inside him. He wanted to confront her and ask for her explanation but he knew that it was futile. She would often ignore him as if he didn't exist.

He erased those thoughts in his mind and focused on what is currently happening. There was definitely something wrong with Lucinde. She never cried nor showed any weakness in front of other people. People would often label her as being shameless and arrogant. She breaks people down but she would never breakdown like this.

Ezra let out a sigh, not knowing whether to give her some space or stay in the room. She was clinging to him tightly as if he was the only one that she could rely on. Even though he would be happy that she was at least acknowledging his existence, it was not a situation that one should be glad about.

He tried to stop her from crying but it seemed to further make things worse. "Calm down. The floor is quite dirty so it would be best for you to sit on the bed," he said as he led her to the bed while she was sticking to him like a glue.

"Lucinde, I'm just going to get you a glass of water-" Before he could even finish his sentence, Lucinde jumped out of the bed started saying, "Take me away from this disgusting place, please."

She felt disgusted sitting on the very bed that the antagonist Lucinde and the jerk of an alpha used in engaging in that activity. Ezra's eyes widened upon realizing the reason for her disgusted expression as she looked at her bed. Although he was definitely puzzled with her reaction, he decided to comply with her demand. She seemed to be in a bad mental and emotional state. He couldn't exactly ask her for explanations all of a sudden. It might worsen the situation.

Ezra watched his mate, Lucinde silently eat the macarons that he made a few hours ago. He was supposed to give it to her but she was too preoccupied with the alpha. She usually never bothered eating the food that he would offer her whenever they would encounter each other. Although he was supposed to be happy that she finally ate the food that he made and that she wasn't against staying in his house, he wasn't. The current situation wasn't exactly how he imagined it to be.

He remained silent, not knowing what to say. Would she listen to him if he asked for her explanation? Or would she ignore him and treat him like a plague? This day was filled with confusion, disappointment, and heart ache for him. He was experiencing a lot of things that doesn't sit well with him.

"Um...So, how are the macarons?" he asked awkwardly, as he tried to act like everything seemed fine. She stopped eating and drank a gulp of water before replying, "It's good. It reminds me of the ones I would often buy from the bakery next door."

"Bakery next door?" he couldn't help but become confused on what she was pertaining to. There was never a bakery next to her house. The beta's residence was surrounded by a forest after all. This is the case with the rest of the buildings in the pack. The establishments were situated at the center of the territory.

Lucinde froze upon realizing her mistake. "Oh no. I was talking about my original world," she thought to herself. She let out an awkward laugh before saying, "That...I meant that it tastes so good that I wish the bakery you bought it from was next to my house."

"Oh. I-I'm glad you thought so," he replied as his cheeks started to turn red. Although he knew that she wasn't aware that he made the macaron, he couldn't help but feel happy with receiving a compliment from his mate. It was the first time that she said something nice involving him.

She glanced up and saw him sitting across from her. He averted his gaze as his cheeks turned even redder. "Why is he acting like that? I only said that the macarons taste good. I wonder if..," she thought. She decided to recall the events in the story.

During Valentine's day, the antagonist Lucinde was busy trying to get alpha Kent to sleep with her. She spent a lot of time trying to get his attention. Whilst doing so, there were hints from the story that Ezra was busy with something. He was in the kitchen when the main protagonist, Annalise, asked about the antagonist's whereabouts. This led to them finding out about what the antagonist did.

"Did you make this?" Lucinde asked upon arriving at the conclusion that Ezra was intending to give the macarons to the antagonist Lucinde. Ezra's brown eyes widened at her question. There was fear in those brown orbs as if he was afraid that she might start yelling at him.

"Y-Yes," he answered timidly, anticipating her negative response upon knowing the truth. He knew that the reason his mate did not want to associate with him was due to his rank and his lack of manliness. He remembered the exact words that she said to him. Pathetic. You aren't even capable of doing anything beside those omega tasks. You are nothing but pest in my eyes. What man does these things?

"Oh. That's impressive. I remember trying to make macarons with my cous-...I mean...I heard that it was difficult to make," Lucinde corrected herself before she could say anything related to her own life. She knew that she was probably confusing Ezra. However, she preferred to start being truthful about her thoughts than continue pretending to be the antagonist Lucinde. Acting like the antagonist only brings even more problems, especially to people that got transmigrated as a villainess or villain character. It would always backfire. Moreover, Lucinde was certain that with Ezra's personality, he wouldn't do anything bad to her. She could trust him at least but his trust will be difficult to earn.
