It is the day! They will sail off to Sumatran Island now. Malaccan Port will be their beginning location. From there, they will directly sail with a medium-sized cruising ship to the southern part of the Dutch-ruled island. The archipelago is known by the locals as Indonesia. Its official colonial name is the Dutch East Indies. Just like the Malayans, the Indonesians have been under the Dutch rule for centuries. Dutch in this context, is much more cruel to compare with British. The lowlies of Indonesia are treated like animals, being enslaved by the Dutch aristocrats.
Ghaafar Lee has some wealth to begin with. Inherited from his father, it was never used by him. Only now, for this plan of his, he will use it. To start a very new life there will need a sum of fortune. They, of course, do not want to end up as low class people there. At least, ending up as middle class people would best suit them. They would live a peaceful life, not being enslaved by the Dutch. They may also live like humans and not animals. This is the best option for them. Living a peaceful life and staying low at the same time. Being high class people, staying low from the public and the government will of course not be an option.
That morning, they arrived about a quarter to an hour early. Ghaafar Lee has to inspect the security level that is placed there at the port. The government must have placed a very high level of security there to filter those listed in the wanted list. It is a very anxious moment for Ghaafar Lee. He is very wanted by the government. He cannot do anything with it now. It must have been destined for him. The only effort he could make now is to pray that God eases him with his plan. There is no turning back for them, they are here now thus having to go through it eventually.
Ghaafar Lee will be the last of them to get on board. He must make sure that everyone passes the security checkpoint. Although his great partners are not listed as wanted people, he must be cautious with everything. Just a wrong step and they will end up being tied up by the police. Even worse, being shot to death. Therefore, being the last person will get him a clear view of everyone, his partners and the police securing the checkpoint before the passengers could get on board. Very nervous, those are two best words to describe Ghaafar Lee at the moment.
"Go on, lads. Do as planned." Ghaafar Lee instructs them. Leading them is most definitely Master Amir. Ghaafar Lee keeps a good gap from them. If anything happens to him any moment now, they would not be involved. "Just act normally. This will all be over." He whispers, but is audible.
"See you on board, Lee." Master Amir speaks to Ghaafar Lee before he starts to take his steps towards the checkpoint. "Let's go..." He instructs the others.
"See you..." Said Suri Kenanga, looking at Ghaafar Lee. She seems to insist on staying with him but plan is plan, it has to be executed so everything goes well for the better of all. "Goodbye..." She says her final words before moving.
Only when everyone passes the checkpoint that Ghaafar Lee starts to approach the police there to inspect him. "Hold on, your name is Ghaafar Lee Ah Law?" One of the officers there asks him upon inspecting his identification document. "Please hold on for a moment." He tells the other officer to pull Ghaafar Lee aside. "We have a problem here, Mr. Lee. You are wanted by the authorities. We have to arrest you." The officer explains to him.
"What for? What did I do?" Ghaafar Lee plays it along. He is trying his best to avoid being caught. They would kill him for running away! "I never did anything illegal, let me get on board!" He insists.
"Please cooperate, Mr. Lee. We don't want any unwanted outcome, don't we?" The officer warns him while still holding onto his hands. "Just comply, alright?" The officer resumes, this time grabbing his arms and pulling it backwards. This is when Ghaafar Lee starts to resist. He elbow-attacks the officer, elbowing right onto his nose before releasing himself. Ghaafar Lee then reaches for the other officer's pistol holster, snatching the pistol being put safe there.
He takes a few steps back before trying to point the pistol there as a sign of stern and firm warning to the police around there. This alerts everyone, literally everyone! This includes those who have gotten on board. "What is Lee doing down there?!" Suri Kenanga asks almost hysterically upon seeing Ghaafar Lee's act. Everyone is also very shocked. Master Amir calms everyone down before telling them to just ignore it and stick with the plan. He ensures that Ghaafar Lee will be safe, he planned all this. Of course he does not manage to convince them. Suri Kenanga tries to run for Ghaafar Lee before being grabbed and held by Master Amir. He does not let her get off board.
Ghaafar Lee is still struggling, trying to get off the police who now are surrounding him. By now, even soldiers are here. They without any further negotiation start pointing arms at Ghaafar Lee. He is now stuck. There is no way out now. It is either he fights or surrenders. If he fights, he will most definitely die on the spot here. Yet, if he surrenders, he will also die, but soon and not now, being hanged most likely. Therefore, he chooses to fight. He raises the pistol in his right hand and aims for one of the soldiers and before he even manages to put his finger onto the trigger, something happens.
"BANG!" A shot is fired. Ghaafar Lee is now on his knees. It hits his back. One of the soldiers shot him immediately upon seeing him threatening his partner's life. That was a choice Ghaafar Lee made thus this is the consequence he was ready to pay. "Argh..." He groans in pain. No longer on his knees, he is now lying on the ground holding the dying-level of pain, being shot in the chest.
While the ship starts to sail, Master Amir and the rest cannot do anything but to see. The worst thing they could do. Tears start to appear in Master Amir's eyes. He could never believe what he had just seen. The man who attempted to kill him before, now sacrificing his life for the better of others. There is no other way than to do as Ghaafar Lee has willed. That is the only way to live his legacy now.
"NO!" Suri Kenanga shouted seeing the incident happen. She cannot believe it. He lied again. There is no way she can accept this. "Lee! No!" She hysterically exclaims. Master Amir could only calm her now. He hugs her, who is now already on her knees crying. What an unfortunate fate for a man who wanted to serve his land. What will be written in history books is that he died a traitor not a fighter. And that only those who fought alongside him will know the truth.
"A bird will only stop flying when its wings are broken. While a man will stop moving whenever he wants to."
