I woke up in my bed to the sound of my phone vibrating on my bedside table. I turned on my lamp and fumbled for my phone. I unlocked it and looked at the text from an unknown number,

Hey Kylie, its Griffin. My friend kicked me out, I had no where else to go, can I come crash at your place?

I groaned and answered him back,

Sure, I'll wait for u

I lied back in bed and stared at the ceiling, about fifteen minutes later I heard a car pull up outside, I got out of bed and walked out into the living room. A knock on the door announced Griffin was waiting. I unlocked and opened the door. I gasped when I saw him, he had a purplish bruise starting to form on his jaw and some dried blood was coming from his nose. I quickly ushered him inside.

"What happened?" I asked as I went to the fridge for a bag of frozen vegetables. Griffin didn't say anything and when I turned around I saw that he was looking at me.

"Wha-" I started looking down at myself, then I understood. I was wearing my Avengers tank top and really cute shorts I had gotten from urban planet that had the word Nerd written on the butt. I gave Griffin a dirty look and continued to prepare the makeshift ice pack.

"You didn't answer my question." I said over my shoulder.

"Well...my buddy kicked me out, and I tried reasoning with him but..." he shrugged as I turned giving him the ice pack which he placed on the bruise. I sighed,

"Picking fights Griffin?" I asked sarcastically,

"No! I just...it wasn't my fault...he just..." Griffin fumbled for an answer but when I started laughing he glared at me. I patted his arm.

"You can sleep on the couch, but I can't promise that Kasey won't want to sleep with you, she's quite a flirt." I said continuing to laugh as I headed to my room to grab a blanket for him. When I came back Griffin was sitting on the floor beside Kasey's bed, petting her.

"I warned you," I said and he smiled.

"She's a husky cross, right?" He looked up at me.

"I think so, I found her on the side of the road on the way down here, I've been fixing up her paw, I think she sprained it." I said. Griffin's brow creased in confusion,

"On the way down here? Where did you live before?" He asked continuing to play with Kasey.

"Umm...I'm from Canada originally, do you know where Toronto is?" I asked playing with a string in the blanket, Griffin rolled his eyes,

"Yeah, I know where Toronto is." He said standing up.

"Well I'm from around there." I said back, placing the blanket in the couch.

"Thank you." Griffin said sincerely. "I know that I don't know you very well but I really appreciate this." he said, his purply eyes looking intently at me.

"Well I know your favourite colour so...I think I know you pretty well." I responded smiling.

"Sleep well!" I called as I walked back into my room and closed the door. I sat on my bed and stared at the door, I could hear Griffin settling down on the couch. He was right, I didn't know him very well, for all I know he could be a crazed murderer that will suffocate me when I'm sleeping. I sighed and lay back onto my bed. He had saved me though, there was that. I don't think a creepy serial killer would save a girl, take her home then text her the middle of the night because his friend kicked him out. Plus his favourite colour is blue, that doesn't seem very murderous to me. Satisfied with my reasoning I closed my eyes for a second time that night and slowly fell into unconsciousness.
