"So you're spending the summer here then going to Allen in September?" Griffin asked shielding his eyes from the sun and looking over at me. We were sitting outside on my deck which the warm sun had recently dried.
"Yep, I just moved in here a few days ago." I answered tilting my head back and letting the sun heat my skin.
"I'm going to Allen too, but I'm crashing with a friend until school starts." He said and I looked over at him, he was watching me but looked away when I caught his eyes.
"I think I've overstayed my welcome there." He looking out at the ocean.
"Why don't you just live with your parents." I asked. His eyes glazed over,
"They died, a month or so ago." He almost whispered.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry." I said quickly gently touching his shoulder.
"It's okay, I miss them but I guess I have to move on and continue with my life." He said. We were quiet for a moment, then I sighed,
"What's you favourite colour?" I blurted out. Griffin looked up at me confused,
"What?"
"Your favourite colour. I don't like sad subjects so I'm changing it. Mine's purple." I said taking my hand back. Griffin looked at me like I had two heads.
"Umm, blue I guess." he said then smiled. "Alright, what's your favourite car?" He asked, I could tell by his expression that he though he had me trapped. I smiled,
"Probably a Chevy Camero, 2013 obviously, but my dream car is the Koenigsegg Agera R, black with red piping." I said and sighed dreamily for effect. Griffin looked stunned, "You?" I asked and smiled sweetly. He stuttered a bit before coming out with o coherent answer.
"Umm...I'm a Chevy guy too, but I like the more classic looking cars." He said, still not being able to wipe the completely surprised expression of his face. I shrugged,
"I respect the classic looks but I like the modern more." I said, "Okay, my turn."
----------------------------------------------------
"Favourite movie?" I asked, We had been asking each other question for a while now and the sun was high in the sky.
Griffin's expression changed to represent a more sheepish look.
"Umm...I don't actually watch a lot of movies." He said, now it was my turn to be surprised.
"Wait, what? You mean you don't watch movies?" I said dumbfounded.
"Well, not exactly, I mean, I've watched a few but..." He said looking at me, I held up my hand.
"Have you seen any of The Pirates of the Caribbean?" I asked, Griffin shook his head.
"Harry Potter? Lord of the Rings? Star Wars?!" Griffin shook his head at each, I groaned and slumped in my chair.
"Okay, what about Disney movies? You know, the ones everyone watches when they're kids?" I asked sitting straight agian.
"Nope, none of them." He said shrugging, I wanted to cry.
"You have got to be kidding me. You haven't seen like, anything!" I said exasperated, Griffin shrugged,
"Okay give me your phone." I said holing out my hand.
"Okay...what are you doing?" He said hesitantly pulling it out of his pocket and giving it to me.
"I'm giving you my number so you can text me what times you'll be coming over here to seriously improve your movie education." I said typing the digits into his phone.
"Really? Blackberry? I never pegged you as that kind of girl." he said, I handed his phone back to him and ignored his jibe. Griffin looked down at the time, "Damn, I was supposed to be back an hour ago," he looked up at me apologetically, "Umm...I was supposed to be back at my buddies an hour ago so...I should leave." He said standing, I stood up too,
"Oh of course, it was uh...nice meeting you" I held out out my hand and he shook it.
"See ya Kylie." He said then jumped over the railing and ran around to the front of the house. I heard his car start and drive away as I opened the sliding door and walked inside. Kasey looked up at me from her bed and watched me as I wandered aimlessly around the house. I set my phone on the kitchen counter and paced, every once in a while picking it up, the quickly setting it back down agian. When I looked over at Kasey her expression seemed to say; You are a pathetic human being, waiting for him to text you. I sighed,
"You're right." I patted her head as I walked pass her to my room. I changed into trackpants and a looser tank top. Then sat on the couch with my laptop and pulled up Netflix.
"Teen Wolf binge it is." I said pulling a blanket over me and cuddling into the couch, Kasey got up and half walked, half limped over to me, she struggled on to the couch and then curled up at my feet. I smiled at her then focused my attention on the screen.
