"Hey, you can come in," the man said. "I'll translate for you."
"Thanks," Minaki said gratefully. Part of her wanted to say that she could understand Korean herself, but that was a lie. Her Korean was really, really bad, despite her parents attempting to teach it to her.
She walked inside the practice room, her head down. When she looked up for a couple seconds, just to analyze the people, she was quickly able to determine that she, an eleven-year-old, was easily the youngest one. There were three girls and four boys in the room, who immediately stopped what they were doing, lined up, and bowed to the man who was with Minaki.
"This is the trainee that will be joining this group," the man said. At least, that's what Minaki thought he said. "Please welcome her."
"Hello, I'm Minaki Hwang from Australia," Minaki said, reciting her carefully practiced introduction. "I was born in 2004, please take care of me."
"She doesn't know Korean very well so we would appreciate it if someone could help her," the man explained.
The man left, and Minaki continued to study the room. Everyone there was very, very good-looking, tall, and seemed very talented. She instantly felt inferior.
"Well, hi!" one of the girls said, smiling happily and waving. "I'm Shin Yejun. I was born in 2003!"
"Lee Minho," one of the guys said with a smile.
The others went along and introduced themselves, and Minaki was happy to find that three of the seven knew English, while one of the girls named Lily (A/N: wink wink ;) ) was actually from Australia!
"So, how 'bout you show us your skills?" Lily said. "What did you audition for?"
"Dance," Minaki replied, still nervous.
"Then we'll put on a song you know and you can dance to that!" Yejun offered.
Minaki's face lit up and she nodded quickly. "Dope by BTS sunbaenim, please," she requested.
Yejun quickly put on the song as Minaki got into position. Happy to be able to show off something she had in common with the other trainees, she did her best in the dance and finished without breaking a sweat.
She turned to see the other trainees. All of them were gaping at her in shock. Minaki fiddled with her hoodie, getting self conscious.
"H-How old are you again?" one of the boys asked.
"11 years old in international age," Minaki replied. "I was born in 2004."
"YOU'RE SO GOOD!" Yejun screamed. "HOW?!"
Minaki smiled shyly and bowed, thanking them.
Minaki was following Yejun and Lily down to whatever they called the lunchroom, listening to them arguing in Korean. Half of what they said was too quick or hard for Minaki to follow, so she just tuned them out. In the process of doing this, she felt a tap on her shoulder, so she stopped and turned around to see who it was.
One of the guys she met in the practice room, Minho, smiled at her slightly and gave her a tiny wave.
"Uh, hi?" Minaki said slowly, trying to process what was happening and what she was supposed to say.
"Hi," Minho said. He proceeded to speak in rapid-fire Korean. Minaki could only understand a few of the words that he was saying, such as "dance" and "great."
He must have noticed Minaki's clueless face because he stopped speaking abruptly and laughed.
"Sorry," he said, his English coming out heavily accented and slow. "I forget you no speak Korean."
Minaki laughed. "It's okay!" she assured him, speaking slightly slower than normal so he would understand. "What did you say before?"
"I say you dance well," Minho replied. "Better than Yejun-ah."
"Oh, thank you!" Minaki replied. "I danced since I was young."
"Me too!" Minho exclaimed. "Hey, you need... Korean teacher?"
"Uh, yes please," Minaki answered.
"I can help," Minho offered.
"That would be great," Minaki said. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Minho said. "We... go eat?"
Minaki laughed again. "Yeah, okay!"
A/N: So my question is what would y'all think if I gave Minaki a love interest? Also, sorry this one is kinda short. I couldn't think of anything else to write for Minho.
