The elevator ride up to the penthouse felt like it took five years off of Taehyung's life. He stared at the numbers as they climbed. 8, 9, 10... "I'm going to puke."
"You are not." Yoongi sighed and placed his hand on Taehyung's shoulder. "You're going to be fine, bub."
"Yoongi, I can't do this." Taehyung lunged forward and pushed the emergency stop button. The elevator lurched, all five of them reaching out to grab onto the railing or wall.
Taehyung whirled on Yoongi, his eyes wide. "I can't, I can't."
The prickles at Taehyung's spine greeted him like an old friend, slow and familiar. Taehyung took a deep, shuddering breath.
Yoongi placed his hands on Taehyung's shoulders. "Hey, hey. Look at me, Tae. There you go. Now match my breathing, okay? In, out, in, out. Go slow. Ready?"
Taehyung nodded. He watched Yoongi's lips as he took a deep breath and tried to match it. They held their breath for a couple of seconds before releasing. Taehyung's breath already came out steadier. A few more reps and he felt the needles fade.
"Good job, bub," Yoongi gave him a soft smile. He felt Jimin's soft fingers rub circles into the back of his hand. Jin's hand on the small of his back. Met Hoseok's worried gaze. He focused on them, all of their touches and faces. He rooted himself to them.
He turned back towards the elevator doors and pressed the emergency stop button again. The lift surged forward and continued its ascend.
"Okay. We're doing this." Taehyung inhaled deeply.
They were doing this.
