"Come here to sign up for double battles for free!" A man behind the counter said.

Rosa just signed up Nate and herself for the double battles but she told Nate there will be a twist. Nate had no idea what it was, but he was scared. Who knows what Rosa could mean when she says that?

Since the two already got the Driftveil City gym badge as well, they were allowed to compete with other gym leaders, too.

"Everyone who is participating in round one, go to the battlefield!" The announcer said, which was where Rosa and Nate were going. Nate took a deep breath as he walked and stood across from Rosa, who was chatting with Cheren. Seriously? This is going to be a tough battle.

Nate looked around for his battle partner. Where were they? Nate saw Rosa was looking around, too.

Suddenly, Hugh ran onto the battlefield, panting. "Sorry I'm late!" He said. He looked at Nate. "Am I really going to have to battle with you?" He said.

Nate felt his face grow warm. He took a deep breath so Hugh wouldn't notice.

The announcer started speaking. "I hope you all know the rules for a basic two-on-two battle!" They said. Nate rolled his eyes. "If not, then good luck!" The announcer paused. "Let the battle begin!"

.....

"Congrats to team Nate and Hugh to beating team Rosa and Cheren! Look at the screen to see your opponents for the next round! Everybody gets a five minute break! Go, go, go!"

Nate decided to use his break to go use the bathroom. He exited the battlefield and opened the door for the men's bathroom, and he walked inside.

Nate looked at himself in the mirror. His face was red. That's just great. Nate put the back of his hand to his cheek. His face was red and hot. Even better.

Nate sighed and splashed cold water onto his cheeks to calm himself down. Why is he getting so flustered by being around Hugh?

As if matters couldn't get any worse, Hugh walked into the bathroom, and he looked at Nate. The two made eye contact for a second.

"Uh... Are you okay?" Hugh said. "Your face is really red... Do you have a fever or something? You can't be sick when you are battling with your Pokemon. Then you won't battle well and we'll loose."

Nate stopped the water from running. "Uh... I'm fine. My face is usually just Red."

Hugh frowned. "You aren't that pale, though."

Nate felt his face flush even more Red. "What do you mean?" He said, showing Hugh his arm. "I'm pale, see?"

"Is your face red because..." Hugh paused, looking away at the wall. "Is it red because you like me...?"

Nate felt like collapsing. "Uh..." He had no words to say.

"You do like me?" Hugh said, sounding rather surprised. "Wow..." he said to himself. "nobody has ever liked me like this."

Hugh looked back at Nate's red face. "A-Are you, like, sure you like me?" He asked.

Nate rolled his eyes, then kissed Hugh, putting his arms on his shoulders, taking Hugh by surprise. The two separated apart for air, and Nate smiled. This time, Hugh kissed Nate, putting his hands on the brunette's waist.

The two stared at each other. The five minute break was already up, but nobody cared.

"Ha, you aren't so grumpy anymore, huh?" Nate said, ruffling Hugh's hair.

"Shut up..." Hugh said, kissing Nate again.
