Tony:
Tony had been very busy the past handful of weeks. Whenever you mustered up the courage to tell him, it seemed like he was about to disappear into his lab again, or had already been working for hours.
It was around 3 am—and to say you couldn't sleep was an understatement. It had been difficult to sleep for weeks, there was so much on your mind, the thoughts wouldn't stop. You were dealing with school, dysphoria, not knowing how to tell Tony, or even when you would get the chance, or what his reaction would be—especially if you told him while he was stressed out.
You were sitting at the breakfast bar, with your phone on the table in front of you, and a snack.
"Can't sleep?" Tony asked, walking to the fridge.
You jumped at his voice, unaware someone else was there.
"No." You replied, looking back at your phone.
Tony got a bowl of blueberries, and stood on the other side of the bar, facing you.
"Something on your mind?"
You shook your head.
"Hey, could you look at me?"
You looked up at him.
"What's going on?"
You shrugged. "I don't know, I just can't sleep."
"Okay, and how long have you been able to 'not sleep'?"
"I don't know, just a couple of hours."
Then JARVIS spoke: "D/n has not gotten proper sleep for 2 weeks, sir."
Tony's eyes went wide. "Two weeks! Jesus d/n, why didn't you tell me?"
You grimaced at the mention of that name.
Tony sighed, "I'm sorry. Look, I know I haven't been here that much lately, and I'm sorry, but I need you to tell me what's going on, okay? I just want to help."
"I just have a lot of things on my mind."
"Like?"
"School..."
"And?"
You paused, looking down at the table. Tony's face was clearly lined with concern.
"Please? We could talk about it in the morning if you want, but something's clearly bothering you, and I want to help."
"How could you help when you're not there?" You snapped, you could tell Tony was taken aback, but you didn't care. "You never around anymore, you're always down in your lab. I've been struggling so much while you were gone, and I can't take it any more. I've been trying to tell you for a month now that I'm trans, but you're either all like 'sorry, I can't there are aliens I need to take care of' or 'I need to work on this suit, so I can't talk to you'."
Tony paused, and looked at you for a moment.
"You're trans?" He asked.
You froze when you realize that you had said it.
"Oh kiddo, I'm sorry, I never meant for it to seem like you couldn't tell me something, especially something as important as this."
You only nodded, but Tony came around the other side of the table to give you a side hug.
"I'm proud of you, you know that, right? You're the most important thing in y life, more important than any of my work, okay? Your wellbeing is my number one priority, and I want you to come to me next time you're struggling with something. Even if I seem busy. We could work out a code word if that would help."
