"We are teens now, we can do whatever we want," Davy stated, puffing out his chest. He had worked all summer at his uncles farm, getting a deep tan and more defined muscles. Suzy, being a 13 year old girl, noticed how he changed from a boy to man in such a little time.

It was the last day before summer ended and eighth grade began so they wanted to do something fun together to make up for the summer spent away. Davy decided it would be fun to sneak out to an old abandoned warehouse. Suzy wasn't on the same page.

"Davy, I don't think this is a good idea... What if there's bad guys?" Suzy looked around with worry, moving closer to her friend whenever she heard a noise. He wrapped his arms around her as if he could protect her from anything.

"Look, Suzy, no one is gonna mess with you while I'm around or they'd be in for a good tail kicking," he said with a sincerity that brought both joy and fear to her heart. She looked down at her hands in sadness.

"What about when you're not around?" she whispered. He turned her to face him and gently lifted her chin, gazing deeply into her eyes.

"I'll always be around sweetheart, I promise."
