Roseanne had been working hard in the new office building for two days. Lisa tried to persuade her to go back but was ignored. Her cell phone was left uncharged and shut down for two days.
As she left the building to return to her studio, she plugged in her phone in the car and turned it on. Sure enough, she saw a flood of messages and missed calls. When her business partners couldn't reach her, they would call someone else in the studio. The most missed calls were from the Park family.
Most of the missed calls were from the Park family's landline!
Roseanne went back to the studio, changed her clothes, and drove straight to the Park family lest Grandfather Park would be angry for too long.
It took her an hour from Lin Building to the Park family. When she arrived at the Park family, Roseanne gave Auntie Shin a call and asked her to rest assured.
After getting out of the car, Roseanne found that Grandfather Park was waiting for her in the front yard.
With a bright smile, Roseanne walked in with the boxes of tonics she had bought on the way.
Grandfather Park immediately stepped out when he saw that she came alone. He looked at her up and down and then looked behind her. With a look of discontent and unhappiness on his face, he said crossly, "Why doesn't Jimin come back with you?"
"The Park Corporation is about to merge with Shine. With a lot of jobs to do, he is very busy. I'm busy these days too. I just saw the missed calls from you on my cell phone, so I hurried back to see you," Roseanne said, coming forward and taking Grandfather Park's arm with a smile. "Grandpa, people of our age are usually busy. You should understand it. I guess you must have worked harder than us when you were young. If we don't work hard when we are young, how can we live as leisurely as you when we are old?"
Grandfather Park snorted. "Don't talk to me as if you have honey in your mouth. I went to the mansion last night, but neither you nor Jimin was there. I asked Auntie Shin and she only said that you were busy recently. All right, you can be busy, but how can you be so busy that you don't even have time to come back to see me for months? I'm old and have one foot in the grave, but I'm not in a coffin yet. How can you just forget about me so early?"
"You are destined to live for more than a hundred years. I know you're angry, but please don't curse yourself! Auntie Shin is right. We are just too busy..." Roseanne said, all smiles.
Still angry, Grandfather Park didn't speak anymore but just took her to the living room. The servant served the tea and Grandfather Park, still looking unhappy, sat down.
Looking at Grandfather Park, who looked as angry as a little kid without candy, Roseanne suppressed a laugh and crouched beside his legs, gently pounding on his leg with her fists and saying, "It's all our fault. In the future, even if Jimin is too busy to come to see you, I will come back to accompany you more!"
"Hmph." Grandfather Park snorted and turned his head aside, still looking unhappy.
Roseanne continued to pound on his legs gently. "All right, don't be angry, Grandpa. I know I'm wrong. I promise I'll miss you every day!"
Being coaxed by her for a while, Grandfather Park finally smiled. He looked down at her smiling eyes. "Is there anything wrong between you and Jimin?"
Roseanne kept the smile on her face and said lightly, "What problem can we have?"
Grandfather Park stared at her, pressed her hand that was gently pounding on his legs, and patted the back of her hand with his wrinkled hand. "Girl, if Jimin bullies you, just tell me."
"I know. I will tell you if anything goes wrong between us. Please don't worry. We are fine."
At this time, something suddenly occurred to him. "By the way, I forgot to tell you that during the Spring Festival, an old friend of mine in South Africa, whose family is engaged in the jewelry business, had just discovered the world's largest and most complete ten-carat blue diamond, when you were in Los Angeles with Jimin. Because Jimin had told my friend to reserve a good diamond for him before, and I knew he always wanted to give you something unique, I had bought that blue diamond for him. Now it's put in your room. Wait for a while, let me get the diamond here."
Roseanne paused, then hurriedly got up and followed him. "Grandpa, you..."
Grandfather Park had left the living room and cheerfully ordered his servant to assist him upstairs to fetch it.
It was not long before he returned with a velvet box and handed it to her. "Come on, open it."
Roseanne looked at Grandfather Park with some surprise, then at the envious servants around her, thought for a while and opened the box.
The blue diamond in the box was large and improbably beautiful, shining in the light of the living room.
This was really a very complete round blue diamond, not too deliberately processed into the shape of water droplets or heart and other popular shapes. It was perfectly round, which was the rarest and precious type among blue diamonds.
Roseanne didn't know much about jewelry, but she knew that blue diamonds were rare and more expensive than any other diamond in the world, not to mention a perfectly round diamond of such high purity.
This diamond was worth hundreds of millions, at least.
"Grandpa, that's too precious. I..." Roseanne was about to quickly put the box back on the table next to Grandfather Park when he gave her a stare that made her draw back her hand.
"It doesn't matter. We can afford it. And this blue diamond wasn't ordered by me. Jimin had early noticed that you didn't wear the wedding ring after your wedding and guessed that maybe you didn't like that ring. He had long planned to give you a blue diamond but had been waiting for the rarest and best-shaped one. Now we've finally got this one. There's no reason not to give it to you. You were not in Korea for the past few months. When the blue diamond was sent here, I kept it for you. You can take it as a gift from our Parm family, from me, and from Jimin. My best granddaughter-in-law deserves the best diamond."
Roseanne clutched the velvet box when she heard that Park Jimin had ordered the diamond ring a long time ago.
"You may not like your wedding ring, but this blue diamond is ordered by Jimin for you. You can't refuse it," Grandfather Park said with a smile, "This is a blue diamond that has not gone through any processing. If you feel it too big and can't find a proper occasion to wear it, you can just put it away. Isn't it said that jewelry gives women a sense of security? You silly girl, how can you refuse the jewels and diamonds that others give you?"
"Grandpa, the Park gamily is the safest haven for me, so I don't need to turn to this kind of worldly possession for a sense of security. And this is really too precious." Roseanne opened the box again and took a look at the diamond. "Such a big diamond, with the money buying it, I can probably set up several companies in Seoul..."
Grandfather Park grinned, his eyes nearly closed. "You're sharp-eyed. Anyway, we can afford it. Just take it. If you really don't want it, talk to Jimin and see if he can help you turn it into money. Then you can set up some companies to play with."
Jested by him, Roseanne said shyly, "Grandpa, I am serious about my studio. No matter it is studio or any company I may set up, I won't take them as my toys."
"I understand, but I wonder why you have to open a studio and work with so many companies if you can just stay at home and enjoy your life? Do you think it's easy to compete in the business circle? You don't have to suffer so much hardship. I thought you were just playing, but then I found out you were serious. Why are you working so hard?"
Roseanne smiled without explaining.
