Dex is late for work, AGAIN!
Narrator POV:
"Just keep walking." Dex mumbled to himself, stepping away from the empty bus stop.
He had missed his bus yet again and was now forced to walk the next 8 blocks. In his defence though, he does have a big board meeting today with his super cute—er, I mean—super strict boss.
Yeah, Fitz Vacker, what a cutie! Nearly all the girls at school cried when they found out that he was gay. Some boys were even happy—and that included Dex.
Anyway, it didn't matter—just getting to work on time would be a miracle.
Dex took in a breath. "Okay, eight blocks 'till I get there. Ughhh, why does life hate me today?!"
Only a few minutes had passed. When he looked at the street signs to determine where he was...
ONE BLOCK?! SERIOUSLY, I ONLY WALKED ONE BLOCK!
Why did I have to wear my fancy shoes today?!
"Oh yeah, that's right...because you have a big fat crush on your boss and want to impress him!" He said out loud.
Shocker!! Dex Dizznee likes Fitz Vacker. The only thing was that he could never impress Fitz. He was just too perfect. How could a guy like him ever fall for a dorky, weirdo like Dex?
That's why he had to put his feelings aside and focus on the more important things.
But love is important.
And that's why it was so hard. Hard to put his feelings aside when he was so lonely. When all he wanted was somebody that actually cared for him. That's why he came up with his clever "just keep walking" strategy.
Every time he would walk past Fitz to go to the washroom. Just keep walking. Or go to get his papers from the printer? Just keep walking.
What if he had to deliver something to him? Yup, you guessed it-- JUST KEEP WALKING!!
It was a little weird but it helped him not to obsess.
But what if I want to obsess?
What if he wanted Fitz to finally recognise all of his efforts? All of the long hours he had put into his job. All the overnight shifts he'd been working just to hear a simple 'thank you.'"
That's why 'just keep walking' had become his new favourite phrase to say to try to keep him on task and focused whenever Fitz appeared...
Dex had walked a few more blocks in the cold before something wet hit his head. Then another, and another, and another, until he was completely soaked. He looked up to the sky.
Seriously!?
Rain. Stupid, stupid rain.
Unfortunately Dex forgot to bring an umbrella, so he was stuck walking another five blocks all wet and soggy--and cold!
He was mentally adding this situation to his list of Terrible Things That Happened To Me Today, yes, he was keeping track-- it was kinda hard not too--when something else dawned on him.
Fitz would see him all drenched and ugly.
How embarrassing!
"Just keep walking. Just. Keep. WALKING!" He mumbled to himself after walking past a delicious smelling coffee shop.
