BLURB:

His stare could render a human to a world of silence. When I moved back to London, I never expected such a change from a boy who use to make girls' lives a living hell. His entire group had changed in fact, brooding as always, but made themselves fearful over being loved. The cheer squad couldn't even stand them now, it was the strangest sight to see. When I moved back to town, I hoped Elise would still be here, only hearing she moved abroad like I had, ransacking Vancouver like her own personal market, I saw photos on her insta. She was living the tanned life, I was living the business one. Except there was a big reason why her and I parted.

River Colten. Perhaps he was the one I connected with the most. I was in almost all of his classes, all AP, the boy was smart back then, sophisticated, the only one not considered as a designated ladies man. His group held similar images, rich backgrounds, but raised badly. Sometimes even harshly.

I was with him during school projects often, even had a problem once when he somehow managed to take a picture of myself sleeping fully clothed on his bed and him next to me, feigning sleep and spread it across the school. I didn't speak to him much after that and it seemed to affect him negatively. I didn't care, I knew I was moving away anyway.

Point is, moving back wasn't a plan...it was fate.

And so was he.

CHAPTER 1

I stare at the uniform the most. My hair had darkened a little over the years, I use to be a white blonde as a child and now my hair was running dark blonde, in the shadows, I was a brunette. While I missed the blonde I use to have two or so years ago, the look I have now did suit. I apply eye liner, knowing that it would be a more preferred approach to take the bus rather than driving into school with a Maserati and a Gucci bag with Chanel spray and all the dazzled belongings that came with being who I was. Who I am now. My name...Evangeline Bowmen. Of Bowmen Industries. Fancy, perhaps. Tiring, with the real greasy work...very true. Bowmen Industries is a car manufacturing business for electric vehicles. The design of it is my baby.

I check my phone, tracking the bus. It was ten minutes away, but the bus stop was a solid five minute walk. I huff, locking the house I had on rental because the mansion was an hour's worth of time just to get to the high school, I chose on a normal, safeguarded street. Pocketing my art design folder and laptop for my other classes, I step out and lock before heading along the street just to get to school. I wait by other students, just as my arch nemesis steps up, captain of the cut bull team, Emmett Linebacker, literally his name.

He chuckles next to Ryder Vans, "I'm telling you, I'm done with Regina Williams, she's an absolute psycho, Ry. If you want her, beware of what you're getting yourself into. She's a walking leech, no matter her hourglass figure. Utter leech." He tells him, flipping the ball between his hands. I almost glare at him, while Regina was a bit of a bitch, she didn't exactly deserve this.

"You said the sex was great though?"

"Dude, I'd give her a six at best." He tells him, moving past me.

Only for Ryder to stop and lean back, looking at me inquisitively, I raise an eyebrow at him.

He frowns, "Do I know you?"

"Vans who takes all the cat scans." I say to him.

Instantly Emmett spins around, eyes wide, "I'll be damned, Evangeline Bowmen? Holy shit." He blurts out while Ryder clobbers up to me and wraps me in a hug, I laugh against him. Swaying as he does the same. I pull back and cup his cheeks.

"You have facial hair now?" I whisper to him, shocked.

Ryder gives me a dry look, slapping my hands away while Emmett steps forward and wraps an arm around my shoulder, cupping my upper arm, he chuckles, pointing to Ryder, "Oh, that's right, she's been gone that long that almost everyone thought this dude would never grow facial hair." He chuckles above me.
