CHAPTER 1
I still remember her as if it were yesterday, standing in a plated red skirt and a leather jacket, she returns with the elite group after five years of being in the human realm, Liana Swan. Her bleach strawberry blonde curls braided on both sides as she steps into the school, a past student turned into one of the Ultimate Elites of the Magical community. Along with Alexander Watchmen, Trevor Lawson, Zeus Owens and lastly, Lazarus Salinger...the most powerful in our region, each one with their own unique attributes. I knew them all too well, considering I use to be one of them until a change was made and a mission six years ago eliminated my chances at being any kind of world renounced hero.
I sigh as I stare at them through the one way glass window, fingers move around my waist from behind, "Robert." I murmur to my boyfriend, he smiles as he nuzzles into me, running his fingers over mine before intertwining them.
"Finished the last history lesson of the day, why don't we enjoy a walk in the gardens?" He murmurs, about twenty years older than me, he looked only ten or so years older, running the tip of his nose along mine when I turn to look at him, smiling and nodding tiredly. His pale blue eyes were welcoming like the morning sky in fresh air on a smooth Saturday morning. Skin was moderately pale, but he almost looked tan against me. He wraps an arm around my waist, kissing my temple as he leads me away from the greetings of scholars and high graduates that surround the elite team like a crowd of fans.
Robert is greeted by older professors as we pass by through the extravagant gardens, I make small talk with a few of them while Robert excuses us, wanting to move to the outside picnic rugs manned by the closest cafe beside us, though with couples and families already sitting on a few. He takes a seat first, making room for me between his legs. I lean back against him, loving the view, "We should take a holiday soon." He proposes.
I look up at him then, "What kind of holiday and isn't your schedule so packed you can barely fit in breaks with me, Darling?" I giggle when his stubble under his chin tickles against me. We've been together for about a year now, I never thought the man could be sweet, or even cuddly like he is now.
He hmmm's, "End of year holiday. I say we travel somewhere wintry, the weather around here doesn't always appeal to the suits I wish to wear just to match your beauty." He tells me, I move and turn to face him, straddling him, he cups my hips, the red business suit with a plunging neckline not distracting him from my green eyes piercing his pale blue ones.
I wrap my arms around his shoulders, "The Christmas holidays?" I wonder, feeling a brush of wind in my sharp honey-blonde curls that has held a rustic glow since I could first grow hair on my head. He wraps his arms around me, losing the smile, holding something stronger while I smile down at him, "I'd love to. Last Christmas you said you were seeing family, all I did was eat chocolate cake on my own and buy a certain line of sexy lingerie." I whisper to him, his eyes don't darken like they usually do before sex.
He cups my cheek, "Athena...I'm falling in love with you every goddamn second I spend with you." He murmurs, I laugh, my fingers traipsing over the nape of his neck before I lower my full lips to his. His arm tightens and his lips part against mine.
He groans, "This particular cafe glares at couples like us." He grumbles, feeling it behind him.
I look above him and furrow my eyebrows, "No one's looking, Darling. Except a cafeteria staff waiting to take our order." I tell him, pausing when I see sweat droplets move down his temples.
I blink, "Hey, are you alright, honey? You're a little overheated. I know I make you hot, but not normally like this." I whisper to him, pulling out his handkerchief while he blinks rapidly before his eyes harden.
