CHAPTER 11

andrea looked up. she had been tossing and turning in bed unable to sleep.

she looked towards theo who was sleeping tucked into her side his sucking on his thumb.

she brushed the hairs that had fallen in his eyes and slowly pulled his thumb out of his mouth.

she picked her phone up from the nightstand checking for the time.

she mentally groaned when she noticed it was 3 in the morning. she quickly but quietly left the bed.

maybe water will help. her legs led her towards the kitchen.

she grabbed a glass and filled it with water.

"what you doin up ma?"

andrea dropped the glass the voice startling her.

"what the hell fez!" she whisper yelled. hitting him on the shoulder.

"hey calm down now wouldn't wanna wake anyone up." andrea looked to the floor towards the glass it had fallen on the small carpet between the floor and sink.

she sighed thankful that there was only three pieces of glass. she had already drank up all the water thankfully.

"sorry i didn't mean to scare you."

she kneeled down picking up the glass looking up at fez. "it's okay. i was just caught of guard."

fez looked down at her rubbing the back of his neck his cheeks turning bright red. at the sight of her kneeling down to him, again.

she stood up not noticing his blushing. throwing away the glass and sweeping the floor. you could never be too sure.

"so why you not sleepin?"

"i tried. then i decided that maybe i needed water but i'm still not tired so i'm not gonna try to fall asleep, you?"

"i was checking on my grandma."

"that's all?"

"i couldn't sleep so i went in there." he shrugged.

the two stood there both bothering to move, it had seemed they had gotten closer and she could feel his breath fan her face.

"okay."

"ok."

"i'm gonna-"

"yeah ma i'll uh see you. goodnight."

"goodnight fez." andrea looked up her eyes automatically locking with his.

she looked down to his lips then back to his eyes.

she wanted to. she really wanted too.

"mama?" andrea held her breath looking to theo who was standing rubbing his eyes.

she took a few steps away from fez and watched as a look of hurt appeared upon his face. she cleared her throat.

"theo baby why are you up?" she picked him up after he had waddled over to the two.

"you not in bed. it's morning?"

"no baby we are going back to bed."

"cake?"

she hoped he would have forgotten her promise. he had been begging her for the past week to make tres leches. she hadn't gotten the stuff yet.

"in the morning we can go to the store together and pick up the stuff okay?" he nodded eagerly. "but right now we are going back to bed."

"okay mama. goodnight frez, i love you."

"goodnight little man love you." he nodded to andrea as he watched the two leave.
