They were both waiting through the night in the foreclosed house.

"What was he thinking?" Kro asked.

"I... I do not know," Clayne sincerely said. "I guess we are about to find out."

"I would think otherwise," Kro said. "Nanny's been giving both of us dirt since we escaped, it is all because of him."

"Returning again will be suicide..." Clayne reminded.

"What? Now you are on his side now, ahahaha?" Kro grinned. "It is not funny," he said seriously. "And I am still angry for what he did and is doing to Leo."

"Kro," Clayne said. "You are a friend of him, the same as me. You pledged, and I know you didn't mean it, so do I. But we had our reasons: we only wanted to comfort him," he said. "But it is too late to back down now, is it?"

Kro was struct with such words. "Why did we become his friend?" Kro wondered.

Clayne answered, "I don't know, we just did it, without any thought... isn't that what friendship is all about? Meeting strangers who are different than you—paying the consequences of the troubles he made each time."

Kro asked, "Will Pastuzo doom us?"

"I hope not," Clayne said. "Not if we do this right. Can I trust you to help us succeed this?"

"Hmm, maybe, haha?" Kro laughed. "If we do, do you think all this... trouble stops?"

"Well, teaching your nanny a lesson is Pastuzo's desire, not yours. I'll... put a word to leave you, and Wilkes alone; that is of course, if we succeed," Clayne promised.

"If we succeed. Man," Kro wondered.

A few seconds later, the window was opened, Pastuzo has packed all the con equipment, bringing it to his empty room, not that he remembered that it was as he stared at every corner.

He breathed in deep after eyeing every corner. "This used to be my life," he said. "Where I was... told that I will just be like everyone else, and not do anything about the problems I've had with... people," he said. "I will still love her... because... I do."

Pastuzo was trying hard not to cry, Clayne breathed in and patted him.

"Thanks," Pastuzo thanked Clayne. "So I guess... this is my life now," he realized. "And no one can do anything about it but myself," he said with the shadows in his eyes. "They will try to stop me... I would like to see them try."

"Psst," he whispered down below. "I got him, over here."

"There you are, my two humblest of friends. I knew you both wouldn't let me down," Pastuzo said to the two. "Bring them up."

Clayne climbed down the window, lifted Leopold, and gave it to Kro's arms. Then Clayne held Wilkes' arms, leading him to the pipe, used to climb up his room. Clayne assisted with all his hands bringing Wilkes up.

Pastuzo grabbed Wilkes's arm and pulled it over to his own. "I knew you wouldn't abandon me..."

"Pastuzo," Wilkes interrupted. "I will help you this one time," he clarified. "But I want you to promise me that you will speak of your need of assistance with honesty and trust. That is the only way you can convince me to help you."

Pastuzo accepted with open arms. "Alright, ask me."

"Firstly," he said. "What are we going to do tonight?"
