Chapter-3: Kindred Spirit

Under the afternoon sun, we can see a black-haired youth dressed in a plain orange T-shirt, black trousers, and wearing white sneakers traversing rocky plains. An orange demon mask is also tied to his left arm.

"Man, I am tired." Subaru was huffing from all the walking he did. After walking for some more distance he suddenly felt a gust of heavy wind blowing against him, almost lifting him from the ground.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" Yelled Subaru, as he resisted the wind. He gritted his teeth and continued towards the source of wind. But it became too much for him after he walked some distance. He didn't have any other choice than to summon a few unseen hands and hold on to the ground. After he is stable again, he continued his journey.

When he finally reached the source of the wind, he saw two figures furiously throwing magic at each other, all the while floating in the air. He was not able to distinguish them from that far, so went near towards them. As he approached them, he saw a sturdy boulder and took refuge behind it.

"Phew, that was some op magic. Just the residual winds from their fight are that strong. I don't know what happens if I was the one facing them." Subaru took a peek at those figures. To say he was surprised was an understatement. He saw two similar figures fighting each other. Both figures are the exact same, except for their dress color scheme. One figure is wearing a white-colored dress while another figure was wearing a black-colored dress. Most importantly, those two are inhumanely beautiful.

"Wow, I think one of them must be Zarestia. Then who is the other doppelganger? Or am I mistaking their identities?" Subaru has so many questions, but for now, he watched their fight without intervening. A few minutes passed and the figure in white seemed to be at a disadvantage.

That is until the figure in black turned her head towards him. 'How did she find me? And why is she glaring that hatefully at me?' Before Subaru can do anything, his head was separated from his body.

*Ueeeeheeeueuee- Incomprehensible witch noises*

*Gah-ah-ah* Subaru caught his throat out of reflex when he came back. His checkpoint is when he just arrived behind the boulder.

'That was dangerous. Why did she kill me? Should I find another location or should I fight her to get more information?' For now, Subaru planned to go with option two. He can at least find some info that he can use in upcoming loops.

'No, that was dangerous thinking. I shouldn't just throw my life away like it is worthless. But I already did it in prison, what is wrong if I do it here? No, I shouldn't think like that. All those loops are necessary to escape from that seemingly impossible situation, but the situation is not that dire here.' Subaru was having his own inner debate on his moral compass when his attention was grabbed by the sound of approaching battle.

'Okay, the moment is here. Stay alert, Natsuki Subaru. If possible, do it in one loop.'

This time Subaru didn't peek from the boulder and crouched down, focusing all his senses on his surroundings. He can listen to the battle approaching closer when suddenly *Fwoooooosh*
