at school, heaven was at her locker when maddy walked by. she was wearing a turtle neck and a hoodie with a pair of sunglasses.
"why the fuck are you dressed like the unabomber?" heaven asked. "why do you have your boyfriends name tatted like a prison wife?" maddy asked.
"because he's my soulmate. but seriously, are you okay?" she asked. "yeah. i'm just on my period" maddy sighed. "okay, well i have to get to class. see you at lunch?" "yeah. bye."
but heaven wouldn't see maddy at lunch. later in the day, she was with lexi and cassie at her locker when two police officers walked by escorting nate to the principal's office.
"what was that about?" cassie asked. "probably 'cause nate tried to kill maddy," lexi said. "what?" heaven asked ready to kill nate if he had hurt her friend.
"well, 'cause she found all that gay porn on his phone," lexi said. "who told you that?" cassie asked. "you did." "when?" "at the carnival." "okay, lexi, never repeat that, because literally none of it's true," cassie said, before slamming her locker and walking away.
"maybe she's on her period?" heaven asked. lexi laughed as heaven looped her arm around hers. "come on. i'm starving."
heaven tried texting maddy but she got no response. she figured if she didn't see her the next day at school she would just stop by her house.

that night, heaven was finishing getting ready for her anniversary date when fez texted her that he was outside. when she walked outside she couldn't stop the smile that grew as saw him.
he was leaning against his car wearing a suit and it was the first time heaven had seen him in anything other than his typical sweaters and jeans. "oh my god. you look really good" she said, leaning up to kiss him.
"lemme see you," he said holding her hand out so she could spin around. "do you like it?" she asked.
"fuck yeah i like it" he said before opening the car door for her. "you ready?" he asked. she nodded as she got in the car.
"are you finally gonna tell me where we're going?" she asked. "nah, you gotta close your eyes," he said.
she looked over at him while his eyes were on the road. "you can't be serious."
"i'm dead serious. close your eyes."
she huffed but closed her eyes anyways. she leaned back in her seat and just enjoyed listening to the music that was playing.
they were only in the car for about 20 minutes before they stopped and he told her that she could open her eyes.
when she did she gasped. she knew this restaurant. it was fancy, it was expensive, and you needed to make reservations months in advance.
