Sleep.

Eyes shut, lips cracked, nostrils flaring with every inspiration. The corners of his mouth were lined with a thick string of saliva,  dried by then, and his face was marked from the utmost comfort that came with resting against the pillow on that pull-out couch. And laughable snores rang up his throat, enticing quiet giggles from the other two occupying the homey space.

Sleep.

How long had it been since Bang Chan could obtain healthy hours of that necessity? How many seasons had run by since he could win slumber for an entire night, without having to stir out of it every two hours, for the most; having to keep high alert for the protection of his child? Having to ache constantly from the discomfort of the beaten-up mattress of which they had no choice but to call a bed?

Too long.

Too long since Chan could sleep.

So much so that his body itself found the lack of consciousness to be odd after the prolonged period of time. So Chan's eyes shot open, and heartbeats quickened due to his heavier breaths, aiding in his recovery from the common dream of falling from some undefined cliff into an assumed abyss.

"Shit," he swore, sitting up too quickly to keep back a faint dizzy spell. He drew one hand up to his face, wiping at the side of his mouth to rid some drool. "Bella," he looked beside him, where Bella was supposed to be, still not fully settled into the present, "Bella, Bella, Bell--"

"We're right here," the child's voice squeaked, an innocent chuckle singing right after. "Good morning, daddy. Did you sleep well?"

"Oh," Chan hummed, shifting to look at where his daughter's voice came from. And then his head cocked to the side, observing how close she lay near Felix on his bed, hugged sultrily by one of his arms whilst an animated movie rolled on the screen of his laptop. "Good morning... What time is it?"

"A little after 10 o'clock," Felix smiled, letting go of Bella to get off of the bed, "you slept well? I already made breakfast, and I don't have much to do today since it's Saturday, so I wanted to talk to you about some things to know if you'd be interested-- the way forward."

"Damn, I slept for so long-- I feel... strange. I haven't slept that long since... so long," over a year, "Your home is really warm and comfortable, Felix. Thank you so much again... and," Chan stood to his feet, folding up the blanket that he had warmed himself and Bella with for the night to sit neatly on the couch after fixing it, "you're alright, Bella?"
