Based on a true story. https://torontosun.com/news/cops-working-feverishly-on-marner-carjacking-amid-major-spike. For anyone who doesn't know, on Monday, May 16, Mitch Marner, Toronto Maple Leafs right wing, was at his car after a movie when three men surrounded him. All three were armed, two with guns and one with a knife. They wanted his car, and he immediately let them have it, knowing it would be the best thing to keep him and his fiancée safe.

Both he and his fiancée made it out perfectly safe, although shaken. I'm just completely disgusted by it. Not because it happened to a famous hockey player, though that's significant, but that it happened in the first place. Why do people do this? Is it so important to have money that you would not only risk other people's lives, but your own, too? I just don't understand it. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this, and keep Mitchy in your thoughts.

#16, Right Wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs
Word Count: 1 K

I quickly stand when I hear the door open, and my heartbeat slows slightly when I see a tired-looking Mitch. "Oh, thank God." I hug him tightly, relieved. He's okay. Nothing happened to him. Well, not physically. But I'm sure he's not the best mentally right now.

"Hey, baby girl." He wraps his arms around my shoulders and kisses my hair. "Why are you so upset?"

I pull back at him, tears welling in my eyes. "Why am I upset? Mitch, you were robbed at gunpoint tonight. Do you expect me to not be upset over that?"

He sighs. "I didn't know you knew yet. I didn't want to worry you. How did you find out?"

"It's all over the news. They didn't give any names, but once they said where it was and that the car was a black Range Rover, I instantly felt this tightness in my chest telling me something was wrong."

Mitch takes a seat on the couch, pulling me into his lap. "I'm okay. They didn't even touch me, I swear. They wanted the car, so I gave them the keys. I'm not stupid enough to risk my life, or Auston's. And before you ask," he shoots me a knowing look as I open my mouth to speak, "Auston is okay, too. We're both a little shaken, but we're okay physically. You don't need to worry." He assures. "Where's Willy?"

"I asked Jack if he could stay over there for a while, because I thought I would have to drive out there to check on you. Then I checked your location and saw you were a few minutes away." I explain.

He nods. "I'll have to thank Soupy. He's so good with Will."

I nod in agreement. Mitch and I named our son after William Nylander, one of Mitch's teammates and my best friend. The two of them are close, and our Will and Nylander are like twins when it comes to their personalities, so it fits perfectly.

"The second I told him what was happening, he was on the way here. I need to text him and let him know that you and Aust are alright." I snuggle up against his side, shaking my head. "I was so worried about you tonight. I thought I had lost you."

He chuckles quietly and kisses my hair. "Listen, baby girl. We've been married for five years. If our stubborn personalities haven't broken us apart by now, nothing will."

I laugh, too. "That's true. You have a certain type of relationship with someone when you've been married since you were nineteen."

"Damn straight. But I'm serious. There's no way I would have let something kill me without getting to say goodbye first. You're my first priority, and Will, above everything else. Got that?"

I nod and kiss his cheek. "Got it. I'll call Soupy and have him come over. I'll order some food, too, so that'll be a thank you. What do you want?" I ask as I stand to go grab my phone, but Mitch grabs me around the waist before I can get anywhere. He pulls his phone from his pocket and hands it over, not wanting me to leave.

About half an hour later, Jack Campbell, AKA my older brother, arrives with Will. Will immediately jumps from Jack's arms and launches himself into Mitch's, who hugs him tightly and starts throwing him around.

"I'm glad to see he's okay."

I nod. "Me, too. He really scared the shit out of me tonight. I thought Will and I truly lost him."

Jack shakes his head and ruffles my hair. "You know Mitchy better than that. He would never do that to you and Will. And look at him. He's fine. So no more worrying."

I nod and the doorbell rings, cutting off our conversation. Jack leaves to get the food, and I go back to the living room to see Mitch and Will sitting on the couch together, Will tracing Mitch's tattoos with fascination.

"This one's my favorite." Will tells Mitch, pointing at the one that makes up Will's birthday in Roman numerals.

"It's my favorite too. It's my favorite day of all time."

"Really?" Will asks with admiration, gazing up at his dad with all the love in the world.

Mitch nods. "Really. It's the day your mama gave me you." He tells him, tickling Will, who immediately starts squealing in laughter. I smile at the sight. Earlier tonight, I thought this might never happen again. I guess miracles truly are a thing.

Very short one, but I thought it was cute. I am so happy Mitch is okay, truly. I can't imagine how terrifying that situation would have been. Anyway, I hope y'all enjoyed, and I love you all. I have a request being published (hopefully) tonight or tomorrow, but we'll see! 😘
