"Heart beats fast, colors and promises
How to be brave? How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer"
- "A Thousand Years," Christina Perri

My heart is beating so fast that I feel like I'm having a heart attack.

A little dramatic, yes, but that's really how it feels.

"Deep breath." Luke instructs me. "Jack would kill me if you had a heart attack right now."

That gets a laugh out of me, and I feel a little bit better. "Where's Ally?" I ask Luke anxiously. "Can I see her real quickly before she has to go out?"

Luke nods. "Quinn's coming with her. It's all good." He assures me and carefully pulls me in for a hug, being careful to not mess up my hair or makeup. "Don't panic."

"It's hard not to. I'm getting married in front of 200 hockey players and their families."

"But you're marrying your best friend." He reminds me. "And your daughter is going to be right there with you. And Jack? He loves you so much. There's nothing to freak out about."

Luke's words help calm me and I take a deep breath. I hear a knock on the door and give whoever it is the okay to come in. Quinn appears with Ally in his arms and I hold my arms out for my four-year old. Yes, it's taken Jack and I five years to get married. But it's not because we weren't ready. But we wanted Ally to be able to be apart of it and old enough to sort of understand it all.

"Mama!" Ally hugs me around the neck. "So pretty!"

I laugh and do my best to tame my daughter's hair. "Thank you, darling. Are you excited for mama and daddy to get married?"

She nods quickly. "Very!"

I laugh and hand her back to Quinn. My future brother-in-laws both give me a hug before hurrying out because it's almost time for them to get to their respective places by Jack, Quinn as the best man and Luke as a groomsman.

I take a deep breath and meet the rest of the wedding party out by where we'll be making our interest. Jim meets me there, telling me that I look beautiful. Him and Ellen have been more supportive than anyone when it comes to Jack and I. Jim even agreed to walk me down the aisle today, because I don't have a relationship with my parents. But Jim and Ellen have always felt more like my parents, anyway.

When it's finally my time to walk down the aisle, I take a deep breath and try my best to focus on the steps I'm taking and make sure I don't fall. I'm so clumsy, I'd be the person to bust my ass walking down the aisle.

Jim holds me steady, though, and as I'm walking, I make eye contact with my future husband. He looks incredible. Jack dresses up for game days and stuff like that, but there's something special abone the way he looks today, probably because it's our wedding day.

Jack looks like he's about to cry, but he's smiling so big that it makes me smile just as big. Finally, we're having our time.

When I reach Jack, he immediately takes my hands in his. "You look even more amazing than I ever imagined." He whispers.
