I opened the door to the class and was surprised to see that Nugget was not there. Brushing it off I went off and sat in his spot. The teachers voice faded to the back of my head as I thought about what Nugget wanted to tell me after me after school by the gate. The image of Nugget swam through my head. I was growing quite fond of the boy. Before I knew it the lunch bell rang and we all headed to the canteen.
Surprisingly I had packed my lunch today and I took out my sandwich and started eating it. Feeling someone staring at me I turned around to see Jerome staring at me. As soon as he noticed I saw him staring at me he looked away finding the garbage very interesting. I shrugged and went back to my lunch listening to the talking around me.
Even at recess Nugget still was not at school. I was starting to get worried. Or maybe I just wanted to see what he wanted to tell me. I stood over by the slide just staring off into space. Suddenly I felt a glass of water dumped on me and my head instantly shot up to see the culprit. It was no surprise that Cindy was behind it. Cindy giggled hopping down from the slide and walked away before I could confront her.
I sat down on the carpet for show and tell still wet from the water Cindy dumped on me. Patting the pockets on my dress only to realize I had nothing in them. Looking around I saw everyone else already with the thing they were going to present. Freaking out searching franticly for my item because I knew that you got in trouble if you had nothing to present. Of course with just my luck the teacher calls on me first. Very quietly as well as stuttering I swiftly told her I had nothing to present.
Now I was on my way to the office dragging my feet across the floor. I was just about to knock on the door when the bell rang. I took this as my chance and turned around to walk out the door.
Everyone else was out the door before me so it was completely dead outside. Except for him standing at the gate looking around almost nervously. Looking at him and then behind me I started walking towards him. I tapped Nugget on the shoulder and our eyes met. His cheeks were stained a bright red. Nugget opened his mouth and started talking.
