"The Serpents aren't dangerous."
All of the following plots have Betty and Jughead's background's swapped. Betty will be from the south-side (and a Serpent if that applies to the plot) and Jughead is the golden boy next door of the north-side.
Betty's mother is a Serpent (either an alcoholic or a recovering alcoholic depending on when the plot is set) and hasn't heard from her father in a few years, after he left with Polly her older sister. She can be quite defensive and cold around most people, and is disliked by much of Riverdale High because of where she comes from.
Jughead lives with his father (the Sheriff's Deptuty), his mother, and younger sister Jellybean. They have the "perfect family" - though his parents argue quite a lot, and most of the time he feels pretty alone. With pressure from his father to be a perfect student he's cracking under academic pressure, and social pressures to be an amazing guy and succeed in everything.
Some of these details may be changed to fit the plot but the basic ideas will stay the same.
