"That was a really good movie. We should go see it again," I said.
My dad and I just saw the new movie Mockingjay Part 1. I had been begging him to see this movie forever, and he finally took me to see it after three days of straight begging.
We were walking home on the dark streets of Gotham City. The street lights illuminated the pavement just enough for us to see. There was the sound of police sirens and ambulances close by. Those were everyday sounds in Gotham City.
My dad is Joshua Black. He's one of the top technology designers at Wayne Enterprises. He takes me to work with him every chance he gets. He's taken me so many times that I know my way around the entire place. Of course, I do always go there after school. I only go because when the school day ends my dad still has an hour and a half of work left to do. So I have to go there and wait for him to finish. I do all my homework there, and then I hang out with one of my best friends, Dick.
Yes, I am talking about Dick Grayson, ward of Bruce Wayne. We became best friends when we started hanging out while I waited for my dad to finish his work. I even got to meet Bruce a couple times; we are aquatinted with each other. One time my dad had to go to a meeting with Bruce, and they scheduled it at his house. I got to go to Wayne Manor! Dick and I hung out the entire time. He gave me a tour of the house and everything. So yeah, we're best buds, and every chance I get I remind him how he's thirteen and I'm fourteen.
"Caroline, you say that after every movie you see," he said.
"Well, that's because I really like the movies I see," I said. "Can we go see it again?"
"You can wait until we buy it on DVD," he said.
"But then we have to watch it on our screen, and our tv screen is not as big as the theatre screen," I argued.
"You say that every time too," he said smiling.
"Well, it's true," I said smiling at him.
"Of course it is."
We continued to walk down the dark street. Our house wasn't too far away from the theatre, so we decided to walk. Besides, it's good exercise and it saves gas. All of the sudden my dad stopped walking and looked around suspiciously.
"Dad, what is it?" I asked.
"I thought," he said, "I heard someone following us."
"Because you did," said a voice.
My dad whirled around, and so did I. There was a man in black clothing and a mask pointing a gun at us. He was on the chubbier side, and his hand wobbled a bit.
"Give me your goods or I'll shoot her," he said pointing the gun at my chest.
My dad stood in front of me. "Alright, just don't hurt her."
My dad reached for his wallet, and took off his watch. He threw them on the ground in front of the man.
The man stooped down to pick them up, and he took his eyes off of us. When he did my dad ran up to him and punched him in the stomach.
The thug fought against my dad, and I watched their fight with frightened eyes. My dad punched him in the eye, and the man punched him in the jaw.
'Will my dad win? What if he loses, the man could shoot him. No, stop thinking like that, Caroline. He'll be fine.'
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a click. Then I heard gunfire.
I looked at my dad, and I saw him in front of me. Slowly, he slumped onto the ground. I went into shock, and I just stood there. After a few moments I snapped out of it, and I kneeled down in front of his body.
