I continued my training, and Batman started to really push me to my limit. Everyday I came home, I was sore and bruised. Batman was pushing me so hard, and it seemed that the whole team was pushing me to my limit. I kept thinking that maybe it was because of what happened at my first mission. I can't handle one guy, and everyone goes crazy. But, I took this as a good thing. The harder I train, the stronger I'll get; so the next time I face a guy like the last one, I'll be ready for him.
I've also noticed that the Trio has been getting even more secretive around me. It's getting ridiculous. What did I do to them? What did I do wrong? Maybe they found out Jay told me his name and now they're afraid he'll tell me their names. Is their identity really that big of a deal? My train of thought was interrupted when Dinah knocked on my door and entered.
"Caroline, are you okay? You've been in your room for the past two hours," she said concerned. "You're not becoming a hermit, are you?"
"No, and sorry, Dinah, I don't mean to be a hermit. I've just got a lot on my mind," I said. "Has the Trio told anyone on the team their identities?"
"Only Batman and Robin know their identities because he trains them," she said. "No one else knows, why?"
I sighed. "They just seem so be so secretive around me. Every time I walk into the room they immediately stop talking."
"That's a little strange. Do they talk to you at all?"
"Not really," I said. "I think I need to just confront them and talk to them about it."
"That's sounds like a good idea. Besides, work just called and I need to go in for a few hours. Go hang out at the cave for awhile until I get back. I'll pick you up," she said.
"Okay, I'll see you later then," I said standing up.
She smiled, kissed my head, and walked out the door. I walked out of the house and down the street towards an alley. I walked in, and walked into the telephone booth.
"Starling, B12," said the computer.
It zapped me to the cave. Once I was there, I saw Robin and Wally sparring in the center. Robin was beating him, of course. They ended up with a tie, and Robin came over to me.
"Hey, Caroline, what's up?" he said.
"Nothing much, but I do need to talk to the Trio, it's important," I said.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I'll tell you while we walk," I said starting my pace. He waved to Wally, and then started walking beside me. "They've been avoiding me lately, and I want to know why."
"Why do you think they've been avoiding you?" he asked. Dick sounded nervous for some reason, and I noticed.
"You know why, don't you?" I asked stopping my walk in the middle of the hall.
"I didn't say that," he said, looking away.
I grabbed his arm and dragged him down the hall into my room at the cave. I locked the door and turned towards him. He still wasn't directly looking at me.
"Take off those glasses; I want to see your face, Dick," I said in a quiet tone.
He sighed, looking down at the ground and pinching the bridge of his nose. He reluctantly took off his glasses and put them in his pocket. He still refused to look at me.
"Dick, look at me and tell me you don't know, and I'll believe you," I said.
Through all my time with being friends with Dick, I've come to the conclusion that he can't ever look me in the eye and lie to me. If he is lying or hiding something, he just simply won't look at me.
