"Em-Emma"

I turned abruptly as soon as I heard the voice I'd been dying to hear.

"Lily!" I ran towards her bed and looked at the gray eyes that I wanted to see for so long.

"Please call the doctor," I said to Adrian without looking at him. My eyes watered and relief washed over my body.

My Lily woke up.

I brought my hands to her face and caressed her cheeks. She looked so weak and small; my heart clenched looking at her state. It was my fault she was in this state.

"You scared the hell out of me Lily," I whispered while my vision got blurry as I looked at the little angel laying in front of me.

"You okay Emma?" Lily muttered in her soft voice. And I almost sighed in relief to hear her. I wasn't dreaming, it was true. She woke up. She is talking to me.

"Lily, I should ask you this. How are you—" I was cut off when I heard the doctor coming into the room. I backed away when the doctor approached Lily. After checking and making notes of it, Dr. Browne asked Lily if she was okay to which she nodded her head.

"Are you feeling any pain?" she shook her head and said, "Just tired." Dr. Browne nodded in understanding, "You will feel a little tired until the anesthesia wears off."

She gave a polite smile to the doctor and after returning the smile, Dr. Browne left leaving me alone with Lily. I sat on the chair near the bed and held her hands with mine.

"Emma, what happened?" I furrowed my brows and said, "You don't remember? We were in an accident."

She lightly shook her head and said, "No I remember that. I meant what happened to you? Why'd you fainted? I got so scared." I could see she was trying hard to not let her tears fall. And I felt a pang of guilt clawing me from the insides.

"I thought I would never see you again." I stood up from my chair after hearing her words and caressed my hand in her hair.

"I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. I'm here, okay?"

She smiled and a tear finally escaped from her eyes. Lily was the strongest person I know and there were only a number of times she cried. And being the reason for it I hated myself more than ever. I kissed her forehead, holding her close to my heart as she dozed off to sleep.

While I was looking at a peacefully sleeping Lily, I looked around to notice the empty room and furrowed my brows in confusion. Where is he? Why didn't he come to meet her?

That's when I realized he didn't enter the room since she woke up. I kissed her forehead once more before heading out of the room. I stopped in my tracks after spotting Adrian sitting in one of the seats in the lobby. His elbows were resting on his knees while his hands were supporting his head. His wide shoulders were tensed, I looked around and saw a coffee machine in the corner.

I walked over to grab two cups of coffee and sat near Adrian. This was a difficult time for both of us. He didn't look up at me maybe because he didn't realize it was me or maybe he was just not in the mood for company. I cleared my throat and brought the coffee in front of him and finally, he looked up at me.

"Black. No sugar, no cream." I said while holding his coffee out for him. He kept looking at the cup in my hand as if he was contemplating whether to take it or not. Finally, after what felt like hours he grabbed the cup; his fingers lightly grazing mine and goosebumps spread all over my body.

He felt it too because he looked at me with the same desire as I was looking at him. A smirk touched his lips making my stomach roil in fear as I gulped down the lump that was forming in my throat. His brown eyes met mine giving me the slightest glint of evil.
