The First Challenge

Before the course began, they had to figure out what their plan was. "So, do we just give up or..?" Ezra asked. "He can't be serious?"Clayton thought. "We can't just give up. If we want to prove we're better than Hailee, then we have to actually try!" Clayton said. The fact his entire team wanted to just give up made him very frustrated. "Maybe if we tell Clayton our powers, he'll think of something." Sam seemed to be the only one out of the group, other than Clayton, that thought they had even a slim chance of winning. "I'll go first, my power just makes me extremely smart, but causes my stamina to run down very quickly." Ezra said. "So he's definitely not the right person for physical training." Clayton thought. "Well my power is super jump, lame right." Sam said disappointed. "That could be useful." Clayton thought. "Well considering we're doing an obstacle course, that is probably the most useful power we have here." Ezra said, most likely coming from his power "I can manipulate electricity. But I don't think that'll do us any good right now." Jalen continued the line, Clayton knew he was right, electricity wouldn't help them right now. "I have telekinesis! But I'm pretty sure you already knew that." Emily said. It was true Clayton already knew that. In their current state it did seem like they were going to lose. "So what about y-" Sam was cut off by Mrs. Harvard about to start the game. "Do to..Recent information, I've decided to change the game." Harvard said, rather disappointed. "What!? You can't just change the game!" Someone yelled. Clayton couldn't remember who's voice that was, then he turned to notice it was Hailee. "Of Course she's having a fit about this, her team was the only stable one." Clayton thought. "So I'm going to treat you like children for now, and you're playing a game of Hide and seek" That seemed too easy, was there some kind of catch? "You're still in the same teams." Harvard seemed pleased with the teams she'd chosen. Clayton still didn't get it, why Hide and Seek? "She's putting us into rounds." Clayton was brought out of his thoughts by Sam. "She's setting us against Hailee. To see if we can make a good team out of anything.." Ezra was mostly what they were relying on, strategy was normally made up from a leader, or someone smart. "So what's the plan?" Sam asked. Before Ezra could respond, he was interrupted by Hailee. "You'll need a lot more than a good attitude to hide from us!" Hailee said as she walked past, her team laughed as the realization hit. They were hiding from Hailee's team!? Soon after the group was called to go into the newly set up maze. Each member of the team was handed a small earpiece. Most likely for communication. "Alright everyone, I think we should use our powers as little as possible." Ezra said, surprisingly calm. "Why? Won't we need them to stay hidden?" Emily asked. "That's the thing, Veronica's power is to sense other people when they use their power. That's one of the main things that makes Hailee team at the top of this game." Ezra said, Clayton wondered how tired Ezra would be by the end of this game. "So how are we going to avoid that?" Sam asked foolishly. "I just told you. Don't use your powers." Ezra said, very aggravated. "Still Hailee is a Daywalker. Isn't she?" Jalen asked. "Well.. Yes..." Ezra and Jalen seemed concerned. From the looks of it, it seemed like neither Emily or Sam knew what a Daywalker was. "A day what?" Sam asked in a curious tone. Sam was met with no reply, he looked over to Emily, who then shrugged. "A Daywalker. People blessed with the power of an Angelic being, similar to a god of some sort." Clayton added, Sam and Emily looked shocked. Just by looking at their faces Clayton could tell, everyone thought there was no way they would win this game. "I guess that makes sense, on how we are totally going to lose this game." Sam lost almost all of his hope in that moment. "The only thing that could counter a Daywalker is a Nightwalker." Ezra sounded so hopeless. "Then how can we find a Nightwalker?" Emily asked. "You can't..Everyone who ends up a Nightwalker gets killed almost at birth." Ezra said. What should they do? You can't just manifest powers out of nowhere!
