Near the end of the day, I stayed stuck inside the nurses office. During the time I was feeling gloomy and other the weather. Ending up with a piercing headache and constant sneezing wasn't the thing I wanted. My mind trailed off to Sharpay, wondering if she is handling her new school well.
"The play!" I exclaimed, getting up and grabbing my stuff, running out the office.
"Ryan! Ryan!" The nurse yelled after me.
I didn't listen and burst into the auditorium. Ms. Darbus was stressing about something. All the guys huddled together conversing about something. The girls were learning choreography for the play. I dashed over to Ms. Darbus, to which she looked at me with tired eyes.
"Ms. Darbus, my sister-" I started but getting cut off by her.
"Is gone and transferred to another school, I know, this is bad," She replied.
"Who's taking the female lead?"
"I was thinking Gabriella but-"
"No! Have Martha do it!"
"Ryan she's the choreographer."
"So? Do it!"
"My my."
Ms. Darbus went to the stage and ushered Martha towards her. The curly-haired girl was surprised, but clapped cheerfully. I got up to the piano, and after a sneeze started practicing a piece for the play. Feeling a glare only kept my attention on the sheets marked up with notes. A hand laid on my right shoulder, glancing up I made eye contact with Zeke.
"Croissant?" He asked, holding out a box with a lot of them inside.
"What's the filling?" I questioned.
"It's mixed berries."
"Why not?"
I paused my playing, to find Zeke holding one out. About to take it, he told me to open my mouth.
"Excuse me?" I asked.
"I just want to feed you without distractions," he replied.
Reluctantly I opened my mouth to which he brought the food to my mouth. I bit down on it, ripping the food apart. Zeke smiled as I chewed, rubbing the crumbs off my face. A slight blush appeared on my face when I finished eating it. Zeke chuckled and stood by me for a good amount of time.
I went back to playing the piece to get familiar with it. Zeke left me alone, going to some other members. Eventually the bell rang, for the students to leave. Ms. Darbus kept me back so we could talk.
"We have a play to finish and graduation, I need your help to get a head start on the caps and gowns," She expressed calmly.
"What do you need me to do?" I asked.
"Figure out the heights of everyone, here's the list."
She hands me a piece of paper with everyone's names. The list is followed as this: Troy, Gabriella, Chad, Zeke, Kelsi, Martha, and me. I nodded and left to my car, jotting down my height next to my name. Glancing up I made eye contact with Zeke. He smirked at me as I grew closer to the vehicle. Our lips connected in a kiss, lasting a couple seconds until we separated.
"What's your height?" I breathed happily.
"Oh? 5'5"," Zeke replied, making me jot it down.
"Thanks."
"What do you need it for?"
"The graduation gowns."
"Chad is 5'6" and Troy is 5'8"."
"You're short."
"Oh shush."
Zeke blushed a little, making me giggle and kiss his cheek.
"I'll get the girls' tomorrow before the play," I mumbled into his ear.
"Go for it Ry," he replied.
"Thank you for making me feel this way, and being supportive."
"Of course."
