King Jarith

Artimus I know you have a soft spot for those who cannot afford their taxes but we can not make some pay and others not . I have to rule over all the elves the same. If we do not make some pay then the others will see this and resist paying as well. Without taxes our whole system will falter. These taxes are what pay all of you guards to do your job to serve and protect not on the castle but all of Asgard. If we do not collect these taxes how would all the guards in Asgard live and be paid? I really need you to be more severe on collecting these taxes sure the elves know it is not a choice it is mandatory . With no pay who will want to be part of the kings guard?

Head guard Artimus : I understand what you are saying and we have been collecting servants to show that we are not giving elves a choice  on wanting to pay taxes or not. I just have a hard time imprisoning whole families for not paying them when they just can't afford to .

king Jarith: they are the ones choosing to have their whole families locked up if that is happening . Because we give them choice Artimus . They can pay taxes or the can volunteer a servant to work for their det . If they choose to all be inprsioned over the other options that choice is on them not us . I have to be a strong leader a fair leader to all equally . We can't pick and choose who does what it causes an imbalance .

Artimus: I understand Jarith I will make sure it gets done as you say .

Jarith : who were the little elves you were with in the garden today ?

Artimus : the little red head is ember she's the one I'm always speaking to you about I have been wanting to spend more time with her but I'm still not sure if she would be up for it or not . I can't tell she's so nice to everyone . And the other little blonde one is our newest servant she has come to pay for her family's det of being behind in taxes . Her name is Astrid . Why you aren't going to go speak to them are you ? You know the elves that don't work directly with you think they are in trouble everytime you speak to one of them. Not everyone understand you like we do on the west wing Jarith don't scare the poor girls if they did anything that bothers you please let me take care of it for you .  Your power is so strong when you speak in your commanding tone as you often do to those you are not close with it's very intimidating. They are not use to feeling the presence of your power near them like we are it can be overwhelming for the unknowing elf .

King Jarith:  Yes yes Artimus I know so you tell me. Leaf is going to visit his Aunt  we have been telling him for a long while we would move someone over to help him with his duties over here in the west wing ever since his last parter moved away . We need to start trying out others seeing who would be a good fit . Rose can't do as much as she use to she's getting older she should not be pushing herself to do what a young elf can. The west wing is one of the biggest wings in the palace the elves that work on this side should get as much help as those that work all throughout the palace . Since everyone is already assigned there duties we should bring the new elf over see how she does for a few days . If the other elves on this side our comfortable working with her then maybe she can come over permanently.

Head guard Artimus: okay I'll fill the order out and send it over with rose ember will be sorry to see her go they were going to be working partners but they will still have meals and free time to spend together .Astrid is newly 18 and this is her first time away from home and put in the world she's from a small village I hope the west wing is not to hard on her.

King Jarith: you mean you hope I am not to hard on her . Sorry to disappoint you know I have to be hard on all the elves working on this side of the palace so I can test how strong they are and if they are the right fit to work over here. She will have to stand tall through the hard days to prove herself just like the others . If you think your girl ember is it ? Would like to transfer over here as well do so whenever you see fit . I remember you telling me she recently moved out of her family's room into one of the singles rooms I know the family's like to mostly stay working closer together but if she would like to come over here we do need a few spots filled . Just wait until the first elf is tested on her own for a few days first before bringing anyone else over.

Head guard Artimus: okay I'll go speak with rose about it now before I head back out .
