chapter 7

King Jarith

I feel like I've gone through over 50 documents from governor's all around Asgard. It's endless talk of laws and needs from different towns city's and villages. All wanting approval for something or questions answered . It's nearing time for me to take a brake . I have been staring down at papers so long my eyes are getting blurry . From behind me I hear the door open and close and hear what sounds like sweeping behind me . I doubt they even realize I'm here yet since the chair I'm sitting in faces away from the door and towards the window looking outside . If I stand to leave now I could frighten them so I concentrate on reading one last document . Then I hear a soft melody being hummed it's not a voice I have heard before but it's lovely whoever it is has brought the hairs on the back of my neck to a standing  I sit there just listening to the soft enchanting humming . Until the humming stops and I feel someone moving my magic around the room . Something I have never felt before. My magic is stronger then any elf in all of Asgard no elf has had the gift or power to move it . I stand up as the humming starts again pushing the chair out spinning around to face the elf that has pushed against magic with theirs . It's her the new little elf girl Astrid . Her eyes are open wide in surprise of me being in the room she looks scared I take a second to think if I should speak to her and frighten her more . How did such a strong push of magic come from such a small pretty little elf .

Astrid : I'm frozen in place. I don't know what to do or what to say then I remind myself everyone puts there heads down and looks to the ground and I'm standing here staring at him I quickly correct myself and bow bend my head slightly forward and cast my eyes at the ground. I'm not sure if I should speak start cleaning again or just stand here until like this until he's gone. Since I can't decide I just stay in this position and stay quiet hoping he will leave now that I have stopped looking at him. He walks closer to me stopping just inches away from me I can feel him staring down at me.

King Jarith: she's shivering my closeness to her must be really scaring her . She is new here Artimus did say she came from a tiny village and has never even been in the city before . I want to question her about her power but maybe I'll wait and and try to figure it out a little more first . None of the elves that work on the west side put their heads down like this and look away from me you can she is new to this side of the palace . I need to give her time to adjust. So I turn to leave . I open the door but before walking out a give one last look at the beautiful little elf standing there shivering . This is the 2nd time seeing her and both times her beauty has caught me offgard. I don't think I have ever seen it's equal.
"Don't clean the desk Astrid " I say before leaving closing the door behind me.

Astrid: hearing him speak my name  gave me goosebumps . I slowly breath in and out steading my heart beat and will myself to get back to cleaning so I can hurry and get to lunch with Ember . As I clean my mind drifts back to king Jarith I have heard the king was handsome but I don't think I understood how handsome he could truly be. He very much look like he came right from the gods a perfect sculpture . When I was staring at him his icy blue eyes were calling out to me not to look away . Just thinking of it made my heart speed up again .

At lunch I tell it all to ember well everything that happened but not about the way it made me feel . The others were already finished with lunch I was late getting to the kitchen and she waited to eat with me .

Ember: I know what you mean about feeling his magic everytime I'm around him I feel his magic strongly wrapping around me me as well it's like it fills the entire room up wrapping around everything in the room . But how did you push it away and make it stop touching you? That seams like it would be very difficult to do Astrid . I think we should wait until we are away from the others and only talk about this in our rooms . If it's true that you signed a contract stating that you can't talk about anything happening over in the west win. If it was truly bound by the kings magic how are you even telling me all this right now. We don't want others ears to hear this what if it gets back to the king before we even figure out what's going on Astrid . We will talk again tonight on free time I'll bring our dinner to your room tonight and we can eat together . For now finish your work and stay calm all in all everything went well and I doubt you will see the king anymore today .

Astrid : I agree we should talk about this privately I'll head back to the west wing now I don't want to be late . I want to make sure I get my duties done completely and on time .
