chapter 6

Astrid💕

I wake up and dress in a blue dress putting on my salmon colored apron I tie the top half of my hair into a top Knott to keep it out of my face while cleaning and moving about while working leaving the bottom half to fall down my shoulders and back . I meet Ember and the others in the kitchen for breakfast before I head to work in the west wing . Walking in the kitchen it smells amazing like sweet pies my mouth is emedatly watering .

Ember: your in for a treat today Etsy made her famous peach portage it's my favorite come sit bye I already dished your food for you . Let's make sure you get your fill so you have plenty of energy to work today .

Astrid : I smile at ember I really am thankful I met such a nice elf here she really has made me feel so welcome and made my transition here much easier then I thought it would be . I start digging into the peach portage and poached eggs she has set at my spot on the table. I didn't waste even one bite of it. It was so delicious . I drink some water and orange juice before heading towards the west wing.  I stop in the hall to look at my new schedule and map to see were I am heading my I'm starting to get really nervous . When I feel someone touch my hand and I look over at them.

Ember: don't worry I doubt you will even see king Jarith the west wing is very very large there are many rooms on that side of the castle . Your work will probably be just like the work we did on this side and I will see you at lunchtime before you know it .

Astrid : your right I'm sure I'll be so busy the day will fly by just like it did yesterday thank you ember I give her a quick hug before looking back down at my map and walking towards destination with a new resolve work hard and I'll meet up with ember at lunch .

I reach a giant double black wooden door with vine and leaf patterns on it . It's the door that leads into the west wing . After grabbing the nob and going in I find rose dusting on the other side of it .

Rose: here you are dear right on time before you start your work you need to read and sign this . It's an agreement saying you will not be able to speak about anything you hear about or see in the west wing if not given direct permission to do so . Many important things are discussed here and the king likes to know he can trust the elves working on this side of the palace .

Astrid: I nod and take the paper and pen she hands me leaning on a lamp table near by to sign the document as soon as I sign I feel a bite of magic bite my hand and run through me . It makes me gasp .

Rose: don't worry dear the contract is sealed with magic by the king it insures that you will have no choice in fallowing through with what is on the document you agreed to and signed that way king Jarith will know for sure he can go about official business freely on the west wing without being worried about trusting the staff to gossip or leak out things he does not wish others to hear.

Astrid : she takes the contract reminds me that ally duties and information are on my schedule telling me the west wing is so big I may not come across many elves while working since everyone has their own assignments before leaving me to do my duties .

Looking down at my schedule I see I have many rooms  to clean and posted house plants to nurse water a nourish . The schedule also says wear the closets are to find the cleaning supplies I need to do these duties . So I go into my first room and jump right into it. It's a sitting room. I dust sweep mop fluff pillows I roll the rug up to carry them one by one outside to bang the dust and dirt from them before bringing them back in and then work on the plants the physical work is a lot but the plants are what take the most out of an elf using your magic drains your energy that's why eating and staying hydrated is so important . We can only use so much magic before we are week and have to rest and sleep and let time go by to replenish our magic again .

I do the same to each room I enter before going into the next . I have a rhythm down I humm a song while flying through my work the next room I enter is upstairs it's a huge study with bookshelves furniture rugs a big dark wood desk with a tall oversized leather desk chair facing away from me pointed towards the window I close the study door so I can sweep behind it while sweeping and moping . Halfway through sweeping I start humming my song again . This room is different from the others I have cleaned I feel different in this room almost like magic is all around me trying to snakes itself around me I close my eyes and use my inner magic to push the magic away from skin . I keep pushing until I feel the magic is not to hing me anywhere on my body anymore I feel relief I have never done this before I didn't even know it was something I could do. I didn't know I'd ever feel magic try to wrap around me either it's the first time i have ever been in this type of situation . Just as I feel the relief of not being touched by the magic and start humming again the oversized leather desk chat pushes away from the desk by the window and king Jairth stands up from the oversized chair that was hiding his presence in the room.
