chapter 1

♡Astrid

   Astrid.  ~ is a Scandinavian name which means "divinely beautiful".
          
Present day

I know what you are wondering . Why have you never heard of elves or of the locations I am speaking about . No I'm not an alien . I live on earth . I live in a part of the world humans do not know about .

I live in a place called ~Agartha ~ a legendary City at Earth's core. It is more of it's own world inside of earth .

Agartha is where all elves live . There are many elf cities ,towns,villages, in Agartha . The capital city is Alfeim , Alfeim is where the palace is . The little village I am from is called Nysa .
Elves have always been around . But because of events of the past we live separate from humans. 

There was a couple long ago. The very first elves on earth they were born from the gods and humans . They looked almost human but not completly . They had very pale shimmery skin , and they were born with magic because they were half gods . They tried to use their elf powers they were given from the gods to do evil . They were caught and stopped .

Not wanting the gods to find and punish them, and being embarrassed after this incident accured. They went into hiding  . This angered the gods so it was decided that since they hid away letting know Gods or human know of them. Then that is how it would always be . They would be cast to a land where no human would ever know of them . That land was called Agartha. This is where the elf civilization have resided ever since .

Today is my 18th birthday . What should be a joyous occasion spent celebrating with loved ones . Has been replaced with one of the worst days of my life . The Elf kings guards will be here to take me away from my life and home forever to serve the palace .

I woke up early to spend what little time I could with my friends ,and family . Then I packed my belongings. I wanted to be completely prepared.  So I am ready when they arrive. Once they get here I'm not sure I'll be able to think clearly . So having everything done seamed like the best thing to do . Since I will be serving the very rich and high ranked elves now . I tried to make my self look very nice . So I don't look out of place .

I check my reflection in the mirror to make sure I looked okay . One last time before they arrive to take me . My shimmery pearl pale elf complexion looks even more pale if that's possible. Making me aware of just how terrified I am to be going anywhere near king Jerith .

I pinned my silvery platinum blonde hair away from my face . My sky blue eyes search the mirror looking for anything out of place . I chose to were a long fluttery white dress and matching sandles. If I'm forced to change in order to work I can do so later. Most of my wardrobe is dresses . I have always found them comfortable . I'm able to do just about anything in them . With years of experience cooking cleaning . I can do it all . Since my mom got sick i started helping out a lot around the house . To take the burden off of her and my father . My father worked long hours and would come home dragging his feet dead tired daily .

Mom:  Astrid the guards are here. 

Astrid:  Thanks mom .

When i turn around my mothers face is swollen from all the tears she has cried today . I try to comfort her telling her it's okay. That I get to travel to the capital city . I get to start a whole new life.

Astrid:  I'm treating this as an adventure . So you guys don't worry about me . I'll be fine .

My father can't even look me in the face. He sits with a pained expression on his face staring at the ground . I haven't cried or shown my fear . I don't want my mothers health to decline more . If she truly thinks I'll be okay . Then she can be okay as well.

Astrid:  Mom I'm mostly worried about you . I know I'll be fine . I just hope you take good care of your health . So I won't have to worry for you okay ?

Mom:  Don't worry sweetheart I will get better soon .

Her hug lasts for what feels like forever.
I reach and hug my father telling him not to worry and to take care of them both. I know deep in my heart my father had know choice but to let them take me .

It really was the only choice we had. I let my anger go .
My fathers arms grip me harder .

Dad:   I'm so sorry Astrid. 

Astrid:   Don't dad ,don't do this now . We all need to be strong . Let's not blame anyone . This is just how it had to be I whisper.

I kiss his cheek and turn to let the guards take me away . Away from my home and life forever .
