Taeyong folded the red shirt as slowly and clumsily as he could and kept it in the suitcase. His mind was blank, his soul emotionless, and his arms numb.
He was just an alive corpse at this point.
He sighed, trying to think of his friends in Korea whom he will meet very soon. "You want them to be happy after seeing you, right? Then cheer up. Smiling wouldn't hurt." He told himself, but only he knows how much it hurts smiling when you're in pain.
Your throat will be itching to scream, your eyes burning to tear up, all the muscles of your mouth put their full force to tug your lips down, but you've to tug them up for the sake of others.
He sighed. As much as he wanted to go back to his hometown, he didn't want to leave Jaehyun here. Although Jaehyun had his friends and family to look after him, he was still anxious.
What if something happens when Taeyong isn't here? He shivered at the reminder of his last nightmare. He was about to pick a yellow shirt to fold, but his phone buzzed.
Leaning forward, Taeyong picked it up from the bed and squinted to see the person who called him. It was Ten. Almost immediately, Taeyong answered the call and placed it on his ear.
"Hello, Taeyong? Come to the hospital quick. Jaehyun is awake." Ten's voice was hoarse from sobbing this all time, but Taeyong had his eyes widened at the information he just received.
Without even thinking about it, he hung up the call and dashed out of the apartment, not bothering to take an umbrella with him although it was raining outside.
He ran, the rain splattering over him. Some people on the roadside who had their umbrellas and raincoats gave him looks, but he didn't care.
He couldn't see clearly in this heavy rain, yet he ran on his way. His foot slipped and he fell on his back, but still stood up to run, despite of the pain.
A thunder shuddered loudly unexpectedly, making him flinch, but he kept running and finally reached the hospital. Hope glistened in his eyes as he pushed his way inside and straight ran to the fourth floor through the flight of stairs.
He turned right and rushed inside the room. Multiple people were surrounding Jaehyun. Taeyong pushed his way and hugged Jaehyun, the boy frozen in his spot.
When he pulled away, confusion was written clearly on Jaehyun's face. Taeyong again had another reminder of his nightmare, and he also froze in his place.
"Hello... Jaehyun?"
"Hi.. do I know you?" Taeyong gulped back a lump which was forming in his throat, his eyes full of tears. Instead of replying back, he just pulled on a painful smile and pecked him on his forehead, before taking slow steps away from him.
And then he turned around, dashing out of the room. But before he even got out, he heard him say "Who is he?"
Taeyong was all wet from head to toe. Water was trickling from his hair. He sighed and sat on the chair in the waiting room, and leaned back, closing his eyes.
He felt someone sitting beside him, but he didn't care for now. He just kept his eyes close, wishing very much of not to open them ever again.
And then a warm hand was kept on his shoulder, squeezing it a bit and then leaving it. Despite of not having the energy, Taeyong opened his eyes and tilted his head to see who was it.
It was Mark, giving him a pitiful smile. He didn't want to see it. It just kept reminding him of the harsh reality he is living in.
"Jaehyun.. lost some of his memories. His last memories are of back when he was new here, a few years ago. So he doesn't remember you.."
"Saw it coming anyway." Taeyong voice was laid with acid. He didn't want to be rude to Mark, who was nowhere at the fault for what was happening, but he can't help.
He looked away from Mark, staring at the white ceiling above. And just then, his brother came running to him and hugged him. Mark must have called him and told him everything.
Taeyong wrapped his arms around him, and let his tears drop on his shoulder, making his shirt soaked. Donghyuck rubbed his back, his warmth luring Taeyong into a restless sleep.
When he opened his eyes again, he was in his room. He sat up and squinted his eyes around. It was dark. He got out of the bed, the floor cold beneath his feet as he walked to turn on the lights.
Yawning, he went out of the room and saw his family watching the TV. Donghyuck was the first to notice him.
"You woke up?"
"Yeah.." Taeyong ruffled his hair and then the memories of the entire day flooded his mind. And then, just at the exact moment, he sneezed.
"Are we still going to Korea?" He asked, and got an are you serious? look from them.
"We decided to cancel it as you aren't fine right now.." his mother said, making him sit on the sofa there.
"But I want to go."
"Are you sure?" His father asked, and Taeyong aggressively nodded. This place was a nightmare to him now.
"Alright, if you say so. Go and take some rest." His father said, and giving a nod, Taeyong went back to his room, with Donghyuck following from behind.
"How is Jaehyun doing?" Taeyong asked his brother, once he heard the door shut behind him.
"Fine, but he still has memory problems. They're all trying to fill him." Donghyuck muttered.
Taeyong let out a sigh and flopped himself on the bed. "How is your boyfriend doing now?"
"He's happy but also sad for you."
"So he's really your boyfriend, huh?" Taeyong gives him a smug look. Donghyuck stares back with confusion until it clicked to him what Taeyong meant.
"Hey, it slipped out accidentally!" Oh boy, Donghyuck was redder than a tomato would ever be.
