Taeyong kicked the pebble lying on the cemented road, his hands shoved inside his hoodie's pocket as he walked with his head hung low.
The people around were quite busy with their lives, some were travelling, some were going to work, some were on dates while some were just roaming around idly like him.
He sighed, looking up at the sky covered with grey clouds, allowing hardly any light to escape.
"Will it be okay?" The question was to no one in particular. But he still sought any form of reassurance, which feels real. His family and friends, all tried to tell him it will be fine, but will it really be?
And then, his gaze fell upon a flower shop, selling bouquets. An idea came to him. He dragged his feet to the store and greeted the woman there, who was in her mid-thirties by her look.
"How may I help you?" She asked, her voice dipped in honey.
"Can I get a bouquet please?"
"Yes sir, which flower?" Taeyong had to think about it. He didn't know what Jaehyun's favourite flower was, so he decided to went with red roses, as Jaehyun's birthday falls on valentine's day.
"Red roses." He said. The woman smiled, nodding, before going inside. Taeyong waited there, trying to think positive. After a while, the woman came back with a beautiful bouquet of red roses.
"There you go, it will be $70." She handed him the bouquet, as he paid the amount and made his way out of the shop. He went to his left, admiring the bouquet in his hand.
"He will love it." He muttered to himself, as he made it inside the hospital Jaehyun was admitted into. He greeted the receptionist, before taking the lift up to the fourth floor.
When the doors of the lift slid open, he stepped out and took a right turn. He stopped in front of the room Jaehyun was admitted into. He saw Jaehyun's parents there in the waiting room.
"Good morning." He greeted them. They looked up and gave a sad smile to him.
"You can visit him." Jaehyun's mother said. Taeyong nodded and turned on his heels to go and see Jaehyun. And there he saw him, lying on the bed, unconscious. His face was peaceful.
Taeyong chuckled, and placed the bouquet on the table beside, before dragging a chair and sitting near him. Holding his hand, he ran a hand through his hair.
"How are you?" It was stupid to ask, knowing he wouldn't reply.
"You know, we all miss you a lot.." he touched his cheek.
"Mark lost his cheerfulness, and Johnny and Ten haven't been the same without you. Wake up.." he whispered, leaning in and digging his head into his neck.
The exhaustion took over him, as he slowly felt his eyes close. In his dream, Jaehyun was there, smiling at him with wide arms. They were in a meadow, the soft cool breeze blew his hair, as he flashed his dimples which could make anyone crazy.
He took a step forward and went into his arms without any hesitation. Jaehyun, deliberately wrapped his arms around him, pulling him closer.
They stayed there, for what felt like almost forever, although it was just a minute. Someone had to wake him up. He grumbled and pulled away, to see it was his brother.
And behind him was Mark, avoiding eye contact. Taeyong sighed, stood up, and went out with Donghyuck.
"Let's go home," Donghyuck said softly, keeping a hand on Taeyong's shoulder. He nodded and gave one last glance to the closed door where Jaehyun was in, before he went with Donghyuck.
"Mom was planning a weekend in Korea," Donghyuck revealed, as they got out of the hospital.
"Nice, we should go. At least there will be some distraction." Taeyong agreed as they walked to their home.
Once they reached home, their mother greeted them with a smile.
"It's decided. We are going to Korea this weekend. Start packing already!" She exclaimed as she went back to the kitchen. Donghyuck patted his shoulder, before darting to his bedroom.
Taeyong didn't have any energy to do anything, so he flopped on the sofa and dozed off to sleep, and Jaehyun was there again in his dream.
But this time, Jaehyun was asleep peacefully, like what he is right now in the hospital. Strangely enough, Taeyong remembered the story of Snow White, where her prince kissed her and woke her up.
He chuckled when a very random thought came into his mind. What if he does the same? He leaned forward, and pecked Jaehyun's soft, parted lips.
But as soon as he pulled back, Jaehyun's eyes were wide open, staring intently at him. Taeyong gasped, not expecting for it to work actually.
"Jaehyun..?" He whispered, touching Jaehyun's cheek.
"Who are you?" And that was enough to stop his heart from beating for a moment.
"Stop kidding." He laughed, but Jaehyun removed Taeyong's hand, rather harshly.
"Stop kidding me. Who the hell are you?" Jaehyun retorted, no hint of any joke in his voice. It broke Taeyong's heart. Did Jaehyun forget him?
"You don't remember me? I'm Taeyong?" He asked, wanting to be sure.
"No, I don't remember any Taeyong." Jaehyun let out with a frustrated expression. That was enough to make Taeyong break out. He covered his face, trying to stop the tears.
When he removed his hands to glance back at Jaehyun, the scene has changed. He was in a funeral, mourning over... Jaehyun's dead body.
His mind went blank, unable to believe what was happening. He gazed around and saw familiar faces with tears. Jaehyun's parents, Mark, Johnny, Ten, and Donghyuck...
Taeyong choked, staring at the still body of Jaehyun until something shook him violently. Taeyong's eyes fluttered open, and he was back in his living room, his brother's and mother's anxious faces right in front of him.
"Are you okay, Taeyong? You seem to be having a nightmare." She muttered, checking his temperature.
"Yes... it's okay, I'm fine. Just a nightmare."
