Regulus woke to kisses all over his face and the smell of bacon. His eyes fluttered open and a gleaming James came into view.
"Happy Anniversary, love." He exclaimed.
On the nightstand was a tray of toast and bacon.
It wasn't just any toast, but specifically the way Remus made it.
Four slices each covered in a different spread- Marmalade, jam, butter, and lemon curd.
It was peculiar to say the least, but it had become a something of a comfort food to the group.
Regulus couldn't decided if time had flewn or dragged on, but it was his and James' two year anniversary.
Two years.
Now, two years seemed like a lot for Regulus, but in James' big scheme two years were just a small fraction of the rest of their lives.
He'd been helplessly in love with James Potter for two years and he could say, with everything in him, he'd love the boy for a hundred more.
"You're cute." Regulus chuckled, pushing himself up enough just to press a kiss to the tip of James' nose.
James, of course, turned a bright shade of red like he always did.
Regulus liked to make the boy blush as much now as he did then.
And he was always successful.
"It's because I'm crazy about you, Regulus." James jeered.
Regulus rolled his eyes playfully, remembering back two years ago when James confessed his love.
It seems so long ago, but Regulus remembered it like it was yesterday.
It was Gryffindor versus Slytherin.
The stands were filled to the brim with students and parents and teachers and people who knew this game was not one to miss.
The game had been a tough one, the two teams head to head.
It seemed at if all the houses hate for each other were built into the very strategy they played.
The rivalry between the two houses was the strongest of them all and everyone who was anyone knew that.
The game was important to everyone involved.
Regulus threw himself into quidditch. Lived, slept, and breathed quidditch for weeks.
He was already one of the- if not the- greatest Slytherin seeker of all time.
So of course this game was one that would make or break his career.
He was so anxious before the game, he found it hard to sit still. His mind was plagued with quidditch.
Regulus had to win, the consequences of a loss would pin the entire Slytherin house against him.
That was something he definitely didn't need on his plate.
Regulus had nothing to gain, but so much to lose.
He spent the week leading up practicing. Day and night. Whenever he had time.
Which meant he was seeing very little of James, to the older boy's dismay.
One night had been spent flying together around the arena. It was nice, but they hadn't been kissing much as of late so it was tense.
