The same day but later on that night was when everything was going to unfold. The news channels were going to be flooded with multiple different headlines the next day. Everyone would be talking of the brutal murder of Maureen Prescott. The murder that would hold a lot of the towns people in a chokehold. Many people would have their own opinions on the death of the infamous woman. Some would end up talking about how they had seen her out with many men, talking about how she was the town whore. There had already been town gossip that she had been stepping out on her husband because he was constantly out of town on work. And that would be the main story of what led to her being killed. One of her lovers was made out to seem jealous and killed her out of rage. At least that was the story that was going to stick since they would be arresting Cotton Weary for the murder. Sidney Prescott would be claiming to have seen him kill her mother but she had only seen the back of someone in some sort of costume and then Cotton Weary had appeared so she instantly pointed her fingers at the random man.

Josie Prescott was working at the diner, deciding after her talk with Billy, she should probably get out and catch up on her shifts that she had given to her other coworkers. She had put makeup on to cover up the marks on her face and then headed out of the house without one last thought. While she was pulling away from the house she had driven past her mother and Sidney in the car. Her mother had sent a nasty look her way that she disregarded as she continued down the street. Not knowing that it would be the last time she would see her mother alive.

Once the girl had gotten off shift, she was driving up the road when she saw all of the news cars and flashing lights. It had left her confused as she tried to pull up closer to her house but was stopped by an officer. She put her car in park on the side and got out. Trying to rush over to get information about what was going on.

"Dewey, what's going on?" Josie asked the younger Deputy who looked at her sadly. Even though he always was a bit more awkward and nervous around Josie, he kept it together as he began to apologize to the girl.

"I'm sorry, Josie. It's really bad." He tried to tell her but she shook her head.

"What's bad?" She wondered as she looked to see Sidney with a blanket around her shoulders sitting in the back of an ambulance and then saw a stretcher with a body covered being brought out of their house.

"Dewey. Who is that?"

"Josie. I'm sorry. It's your mom." He told her and she just kind of froze as she watched the body bag go past her. No expression on her face whatsoever.

"Your dad is still out of town. We tried to reach him but we were sent to his voicemail. When we get in touch with him we'll get him back here. But right now we need you and Sidney to go somewhere. My mom offered our house up and Sidney agreed." Dewey informed Josie who shook her head. She had snapped back into reality.

"No, it's okay. I have somewhere else I can stay. Thank you for the offer though." Josie shook it off. She looked over to see Sidney staring at her and the girl frowned to herself knowing that she had to go comfort her younger sister a bit before she decided to leave the tragedy of their home.

"Hey, Sid." Josie spoke up as the girl threw herself into her older sister, crying. Josie awkwardly rubbed her sister's back in a comforting manner. She had no idea how to go about this situation. And not long after Sidney had calmed down a bit she began to tell Josie what had happened. She was crying in between each part of the story as the girl just tried her best to calm her down. But one thing that didn't settle right with Sidney's story was the whole Cotton Weary part. How did he get out of the house so fast to come in through the front door and get shocked by the scene? It all didn't make sense to Josie. It didn't align one bit.
