For a good majority of the summer, the two kept seeing each other whether it be Billy climbing through her window and vice versa or even him going to the diner half the time when she had shifts. Josie didn't seem to find anything wrong with what they were doing after he had told her he was a single man. Nothing was stopping them from being together in Josie's mind. But everything good eventually has to come to an end.
One day when Josie was walking down the stairs to make a snack before she headed to Casey's house, Sidney had come walking down dressed nicely. The older girl didn't think so much about it as she looked at her sister. Sidney began to go through her small purse to make sure she had everything she needed.
"What's the special occasion?" Josie asked as she got herself some water.
"It's mine and Billy's 2 year anniversary. He's taking me out to dinner." Sidney responded as she looked around for her house key. Josie's back was turned away as she stood at the sink and let the water begin to overflow in her cup as she stood frozen in her spot. Had she heard her correctly? Their two year anniversary? There was no way that was true. Josie thought she had to be mishearing her.
"Josie, I think you got enough water in your cup." Sidney commented as that made Josie snap back into reality as she turned off the sink and dumped some of the water out.
"Sorry. Did you say two year anniversary?" Josie questioned.
"Yeah, Silly. I know it's weird for me to think about. It's been awhile now." Sidney said as Josie stared at her with a void emotion before she painted a happy smile on her face.
"Wow. Yeah that is a long time. Congrats." Josie spoke in a cheery town as she took a sip of her water then put it down on the counter. She walked over to grab her own keys as she heard a car door shut. Josie's ears perked up as she waited until she heard the doorbell ring. The girl waited in the doorway of the living room so she was still in view to see this unfold in her mind. Sidney had opened up the door and instantly she kissed Billy who stood on the other side of the door. Josie stood there with her arms crossed with an amused look on her face as the couple broke apart and Billy's eyes wandered before landing on Josie in the doorway. Like a deer in the headlights. He hadn't known the girl was home because he had thought she was still at work with her car gone. But what he didn't know is that she had it parked in the garage because she didn't want to leave it basking in the sun to overheat.
"Jo. Hey." Billy stuttered out as he looked at the girl, slightly scared in that moment with the dead look she had in her eyes.
"We should get going for dinner." Sidney spoke as she began to walk out the door with Billy's hand in hers.
"You two have a great anniversary dinner." Josie fake smiled as Billy looked at the girl one last time before she had gone to shut the door. The girl was internally fuming as she watched out the window as the two got in the car and drove away. She had let this boy play her and she felt stupid. Of course he didn't break up with Sidney. That would've been too easy for him to do. Her head was a wildfire as she couldn't shake that feeling off. She felt gross now that she had that bomb dropped on her.
The night had just seemed to go downhill for Josie. Once she had gotten to Casey's everything had started off fine. All up until Casey began to talk about a new guy, Steve. Josie had already felt a bit uncomfortable because of her own situation, but she also didn't like hearing about her friend gushing over some other guy when she was still dating Josie's other friend. At least that's what she thought until Casey had said she broke up with Stu earlier that day. Josie had sat there slightly in shock because it had come out of nowhere. The way this situation was mirroring her own if she wasn't lied to was what had made her a bit more antsy in her seat.
"I'm probably going to have Steve come over if you're cool with that?" Casey said as she grabbed the landline.
"But what happened to girls night?" Josie asked.
"Well, I also want to hang out with him. Josie, you gotta respect that. We always have girls night, we can change it up a bit and have Steve come over." Casey shrugged.
"Casey, I don't want to be here when you two start to get it on." Josie told her.
"Oh, come on Josie. You'll be fine. Don't act all innocent." Josie gave her a look. "Please, Josie. You and James. He must be who you've been constantly seeing. I see all the marks on you. I just didn't think you would keep that from me." Casey said.
"I'm not seeing, James." Josie shook her head.
"Please. Who else could it possibly be? You couldn't be seeing anyone else. I figured it was James you were boning." Casey looked at her like she was waiting for an explanation.
"I haven't seen James since I kneed him and Billy beat the shit out of him." Josie told her.
"Wait. Why did Billy do that? How come I didn't hear about this?" Casey asked.
"I don't know." Josie crossed her arms over her chest.
"Wait. Please tell me it's not Billy you're boning." Josie stood there in silence as Casey scoffed. "Unbelievable. Billy fucking Loomis. Your SISTER'S boyfriend. Not yours. Sidney's, the last time I checked." Casey raised her voice.
"He told me he had broken up with her. I didn't know." Josie tried to defend.
"You didn't know that he wasn't just sneaking into your room but also your sister's room. Wow. Maybe it runs in the family." Casey mumbled.
"Excuse me?" Josie questioned, wondering if she heard the girl correctly.
"You're just like your mom. You talked so much about hating the woman but you're just like her. I guess we have a new town whore." Casey replied. Josie slapped the girl in the face without another thought.
"You bitch!" Casey yelled as she went to scratch at Josie who had easily taken the girl down. They continued to fight as Josie smacked Casey's head on the floor. The girl groaned in pain as she looked at Josie. Blood had started to fall from her nose as she stared down at the blonde girl.
"You're a psychotic bitch." Casey spat.
"Oh, Casey. That's not even psychotic." Josie tilted her head.
"Get out of my house!" Casey screamed as she struggled beneath Josie.
"I've had a bad day, Casey. And you made it worse. I would watch my back if I were you." Josie whispered as she got up and grabbed her things before leaving the Becker household. The girl had the fire still blazing in her eyes as she had gotten into her car and drove away. A smirk had painted itself on her lips as the storm continued to set off in her head. If she couldn't be better than them, she would become much worse than they'd expect.
Once Billy had dropped off Sidney, he had tried to go into Josie's room to find the windows had been locked again. Knowing he wouldn't be able to explain himself, he figured she needed some space. He knew she would calm down in a bit and then they could make it all work. At least that was his hope. But when he had gotten home and went into his room, he was left with a nasty scene. It was trashed. So many things were thrown around and his pillows cut open and the feathers were everywhere. And in the middle of his messy bed laid a teddy bear with a buck knife from his dresser stabbed into the chest. A note laid next to it as Billy picked it up.
"Game on, B." and she signed it with a mark of her dark red lips from her lipstick.
