You pull out a gleaming, bright-green necklace, and Kid scowls confusedly.

Your heart misses a beat as you stroke the cold stone, only secured by an old, dusty yarn.

"It looks like emerald," says the man, and you shiver.

For a second, you almost forgot that he's here as you got lost in the past.

"It's not," you shake your head, closing the pendant in your hand. "It's a crystal. There are tons of it in the lakes of Wano, almost everyone has a few. They are said to bring luck."

"Well, it didn't bring much luck to your friend," he says, and you look at him angrily enough that his cheeks turn flustered, and he grumbles something that almost sounds like a sorry.

You look into the box again and pull out a piece of folded paper. As you see it, you tremble slightly, and your lips open.

"You don't want to read it?" he asks. You gulp and lour, trying to stop the shaking of your hand.

"Of course I do, I just... I don't know how."

Kid examines your face silently and leans forward, taking the letter from you. You cast down your eyes but don't stop him.

You wait for a little, but he doesn't ask for permission. It's not in his nature. He knows that if you have a problem, you will say.

You huddle yourself up as you hear the parchment opening.

The redhead stops for several seconds, glaring at the writing without a word. You feel your pulse pounding by your ear as your heart beats faster and faster.

"Proof," he reads. "That's all. One word."

You frown for a moment, then turn to him. Kid looks back at you and huffs, throwing the paper to you.

You barely catch it before the wind carries it away.

"It makes no sense," you whisper, stroking the short letter. "Why would he?"

"Didn't he say anything else?"

"No. He never talked about this again," you answer, and your eyes widen. "Maybe this isn't the future he saw."

"Bullshit," he grimaces.

"He said that I'll understand when I open it, but I don't," you say, smiling widely. "It has to be it! I don't understand because this isn't what he saw."

You tighten your grip around the necklace and remember the Kid's bloody face and the blade.

Suddenly, the memories feel fader and lighter than before.

"If this is the proof of something, it wasn't for me. This means that the future can change!"

"And if this is the proof that it can change?" he tilts his head.

"If it would prove what I'm saying, then it wouldn't prove what I'm saying because then he would have seen this. It's a paradox."

"Why do we always end up at these?" he whines, and you smile at his pout. "And why would you be so happy if it's not certain?!"

You shiver from the sudden sharp tone of his voice and scowl as you look into the amber eyes. They have a strange, rare kind of gleaming.

"I've seen bad things," you answer, carefully choosing your words. "If they're not certain, I can hope to avoid them."

He stays silent for a second and turns away his gaze. You remember that he saw something in your dreams too, from the future. Something good.

Your heart sinks, and you touch his face, turning it back to you. He growls silently that you lead him but doesn't object with force.
