Silver throws his hands up and walks away from me. As I turn to head back to the stables I froze seeing Knuckles standing there. "Oh knuckles is everything alright?" I asked. "Yes you dropped this" Knuckles hands me my grandfathers pocket watch. "Oh my god thank you I didn't know I lost it." I said taking it back. "It belonged to my grandfather before he passed away it means a lot to me." I smiled. "Well Just some advice I get a clip for it so it doesn't fall out again" he smiled and walked away. "Why must I be betrothed to a spoiled princess..... it's him I desire and want to marry.... Maybe I should tell my parents..... no I can't risk it for his sake...." I sighed and headed back to my room. I put the watch on my desk and poured some wine I had before walking to my balcony. I look down seeing my brother sonic with Princess Amy from the Rosette kingdom having a picnic in the garden. Silver is reading a book on the swing near the pond. I look over at the stables seeing Knuckles placing fresh hay in the stables and talking to the others. Am I doomed to only have this for the rest of my life? I sigh knowing the answer is yes. The only thing I will cherish is the kiss we shared. I sip on my wine and continue to watch everything below. It wasn't until I saw a familiar car that made me want to hide. "What is Azula doing here?!" I thought but before I could hide my mother walks in. "Oh good I thought you be here as you can see Azula is here my son" she smiled but saw I wasn't happy. "My son what is wrong?" "Mother..... were you and dad arranged?" "No I was to another but then I fell in love with your father and married him. Why do you ask?" "How did you manage to marry him?" "Well because he was a prince of his own kingdom and I was a princess from another." "So if he was a commoner..." "I still would've fought to marry him. Times have changed shadow. Now why are you asking." I couldn't help it and started to cry feeling my mothers arms around me. "Oh my son what is wrong?" "I'm in love with someone else mother..... and he's a commoner..... he understands me, looks past my crown and sees me as a person, we kissed and I felt so happy...... yet I didn't want to tell you or father because I fear you think I brought him here because I felt this way." "Are you in love with the new stablehand?" She asked sweetly and I nodded scared on what she will say. "My son I won't tell your father but I support you and think you deserve to be with him. I won't fire him because recently since he arrived you been happier and that's all I want for you. The only thing I ask of you is to tell your father yourself when you are ready." She said lifting my chin as I look into her emerald and golden eyes with her kind smile. "Thank you mother...and I will." I said smiling as she wipe my tears. I get up and head straight to the throne room where my father was signing papers. "Father may I speak with you?" "Of course Shadow what is it?" I gulp and walk closer feeling my heart racing. "Father I....I'm in love-" "Good Azula will be happy to hear that" he said but I shake my head. "No father not her.... I'm in love with someone else and wish to be with-" "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" He yelled surprising me. "YOU WILL TELL THIS PERSON YOU ARE TO BE MARRIED TO AZULA AND THATS FINAL!!!!" "But father-" "NOT ANOTHER WORD! NOW GO GET DRESSED SHE WILL BE HERE SOON!!!!" He demanded and I bow and leave in defeat. "Shadow.." "at least you have my back mother.... Please excuse me and don't tell him who I'm in love with please....." "I promise my son" she said with sadness in her eyes. I head to my room to change just as Azula arrives.

"Princess Azula..." I said as she walks in the throne room. "Prince Shadow my you are a handsome one aren't you?" She smiled. "What do you have planned for us?" She asked. "Horseback riding since I heard you are skilled" I lied. "Wonder let's go" she said and we walk out. She freezes once she saw her old Stablehand tending to the last horse. "What is he doing here?" She hissed. "He's our new stablehand I was impressed with his work and hired him. Do you have a problem with that?" I said sternly and she scoffs. "No" "good. Knuckles would you please bring ZuZu and Clearwater out please?" I ask nicely. "Of course you're highness. But Clearwater isn't well." "Well how about Ruby?" "Yes ruby is well and ready for riding" "then bring her out please" I smiled and he bows putting the bucket with the oats in the last horses stable and grabs the two horses. "Why are you being so nice to him?" "Because I treat everyone like they are people and deserve respect" I said sternly letting her know I am not gonna let her push me around. "Here you are your highness also I given Zuzu some vitamins for his eyes because I noticed they were a bit cloudy." "Thank you knuckles tell the others you all can take a 2 hour lunch" "thank you I will. He said and walks away. I hand Ruby's reins to Azula but she grabs Zuzu's instead. "Now hold on princess you are riding ruby." "Sorry but this Belgian horse suits me more" she said and tugs on the rein. Zuzu starts to freak out and whips his head. I hear a pop and her yell I realize she had wrapped the reins around her wrist and when Zuzu whip his head it dislocated her shoulder. Zuzu was still freaking out and it didn't help that she was screaming. Knuckles came running and managed to cut the reins and calm Zuzu down.  "Please take the horses back to their stables I'll take her to the infirmary." I said and picked her up.

After awhile my father comes out of the infirmary fuming. "Shadow how could you be so careless?!" "What?!" "Azula said you let her ride Zuzu knowing that horse only lets you ride it!" "But father i tr-" "no excuses that horse is to be put down!" "VALOR!" My mother said. "THATS AN ORDER STELLA! TELL THE STABLEHANDS TO PUT ZUZU DOWN!" He said. "YOU CANT FATHER!" "YES I CAN! NOW GO!" He said red eyes filled with rage. I tear up and storm up to my room in tears. "Father how could you do that to Shadow....." Sonic said disappointed and walks away with Amy her shakes her head disappointed as well. "Yeah.... You didn't even get his side of the story....some father you are...hell some king......" silver growled walking away. "I can't believe you.... What happened to the man I married....." my mother said with the same disappointment in her eyes.

Hours later it was night time. I had skipped dinner to lay in my bed morning that I have lost a horse I have raised since it was born. I hear a knock at my door and I slowly get up. When I answer I see my brothers. "What do you two want this late?" "We have a surprise for you" they said and drag me outside to the stables. I tried to escape but they wouldn't let me. "Let me go I don't want to see......Zuzu?" I tear up seeing him still alive with Knuckles purple eyes glowing in happiness. "Surprise" he smiled. "He's alive?" I said petting his black main. "I managed to convince your father to not put him down. He saw how I was treating the horse and asked about the cut reins. When I told him I brought out ruby for the princess and Zuzu for you he asked if you had intentions on letting her ride Zuzu. I said no and he changed his mind about putting him down." Knuckles smiled knowing he saved my horse. I couldn't help myself and hugged him in tears. "Thank you so much... you have no idea how much this horse means to me" "A lot according to your brothers. Kinda like how I value my truck." "That is true." We both blush. "Hey how about the four of us go for a midnight ride?" Silver suggested. "Would you like to?" "Of course Shadow." He smiled. We saddled up the horses and rode to our secret place but when we looked back sonic and silver weren't there. I get a text from sonic saying "Have fun~" with a winky face and I blush. "I'm guessing it's gonna be just us?" He asked. "Yeah.... Look im just gonna come out and say it...." I sighed and took a big breath.
