When Casi started middle school, she loved to listen. She wasn't much for words, but she was always there. She was sure that there were times that she couldn't always be there. Even if she wanted to be, this was one of those times.

"Have you seen Anna today?" Casi asked one of the other girls that she had seen Anna speak with before.
"Oh, no. Not today." She replied.

"Damnit." Casi thought. She must've forgotten to get up this morning or something. She should've texted Casi if she wouldn't be at school, she was worried sick.

After the hours of school rushed by, Casi got home to silence. She saw a flashing light in the corner of my eye when she sat down on the couch in her families front room. Their home phone was flashing.

"Did mom take it off the charger?" She thought to herself. "Probably." Casi's mom was always so forgetful, especially if she was drunk.

She stood up off of the couch and walked towards the home phone, which was laying on the ground. Casi stooped down and picked up the small phone. It was a cheap one that they received from the phone company that they all got their cellphones from. She pressed the middle button and the phone lit up.

26 missed calls.

She wondered who would've called her that many times. She went through the most recent calls on the phone long. All 26 of the messages were left from Anna's mom.
